In all fairness, I think there's a distinct difference between brigading and people downvoting stupid stuff using their own volition. We don't incite brigading just by linking to silly comments; there's none of the asking people to go downvote that would constitute breaking the Reddit rules.

Not that it's something I do, but bringing attention to circlejerk-y shitposts means more people are going to see that content who would probably downvote it out in the wild anyway.

There's no concentrated nor organised effort to mass-downvote linked posts. If it's just a case of lots of people deciding on their own to downvote a post (most of which are not adding anything to the discussion anyway versus something like /r/PCMR downvoting pro-console posts), that's not brigading in my view, nor Reddit's (https://reddit.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/205192985).
