Probably our best transfer window ever, I have absolutely no complaints about it. Imagine if someone told you a few months ago we'd sign Ibrahimovic, Pogba and Mkhitaryan and they would then be arguably out performed in the first few games by a centre back from Villareal, you'd have laughed in their face

Meanwhile Spurs are paying 30m for Sissoko (who was about to join Everton but then ignored phone calls from Koeman, didn't bother turning up to get a jet to Merseyside they'd arranged for him, etc) and Chelsea are doing their own Pogback with Luiz.

edit: Also, Arsenal have paid an insane amount for Xhaka. And Palace paid over £25m for Benteke. £25m FOR BENTEKE!

The Sissoko fee isn't really mental, the market is just being inflated by the new TV deal. Smaller clubs don't have to sell players they'd rather keep these days, so it takes more money to prise them away.

I mean, at least Higgy is worldclass. But Sissoko wouldn't even get in our B team. He's become so overpriced just because of that one game where he had Pogba cleaning everything up for him. So he could go on those runs which came to maybe half a chance.

Luiz being terrible is a bit of a meme. On his day he's an incredible player but he does also have a history of the odd shocking performance. He's also a big character and probably quite influential on and off the pitch.

There's also basically no world class centrebacks available unless you want to pay £60m minimum.

The only complaint was that deadline day wasn't the usual thrill, but that's being pedantic. And I still got to have a few chuckles about Luiz & to a lesser extent Sissoko (purely the fee and the flip-flop between Spurs and Everton).

Other than that, fantastic window. Great to get the business done early and be insistent with the board about his targets. Absolutely no waiting around like LVG and Moyes, kicking tyres and what-not

Really enjoyed this window even though there wasn't a frantic end to it. That being said, it was the most exciting window ever. Everyday for over a month, I was constantly checking up on Pogba rumours and telling myself that I was an idiot if I thought it was going to happen. Hopefully next year's window is just as organised and thought-out like this one was.
