Clueless Daughter Wants to Surprise Dad (self.reddevils)

Hi guys!

My dad is turning 50 and to commemorate me and my mother wanted to offer him not only a trip to London but to surprise him with tickets for the Chelsea vs. Manchester United. This is a long time dream for him and would mean the world.

The problem is that both me and mom have no clue where to buy tickets or even which seats to choose. Some guiding lines for dummies would be amazing!

First of all, that's a great gift! He is a lucky man :)

I can't actually answer your question (many people here will be able to) but just thought I'd let you know that it will definitely be very tough/expensive to get tickets. Everything has its price of course but getting a ticket directly from the club will be impossible for you, so you will have to buy one 'second hand', as far as I know.

Hi!

That's a great birthday present to give to your Dad. However it's really hard to get tickets for an away team in the UK, especially for top teams. Most away tickets go to season ticket holders first and then the rest go out to regulars and then normal people.

So if it's possible try and get a ticket for a home game. These are much more readily available. The games that occur around the time of the Chelsea game which are at home are: Fenerbahce 20/10 and Burnley 29/10.

If you can't manage that, then another great present would be a tour of the ground. This isn't a expensive as it sounds, and your Dad would get to see the players dressing room, trophy room, walk down the tunnel etc. Couple this with a United shirt (if he doesn't have one and I think that would more than make up for the game!)

Never been to a game myself, but from what I have read here, it's very difficult to get tickets in the away end.

Good luck, and a very happy birthday in advance to your Dad! As somebody mentioned earlier, these tickets are pretty expensive. If you'd like to buy tickets for another, perhaps less pricey fixture, simply go to the same website (stubhub.com) and search "Manchester United". Hope this helps. :)
