Future midfielders for ManUtd (self.reddevils)

Hey everyone, So the current situation that we have in our midfield seems really good! I was wondering how it could shape up in the future. Although I am not from the UK, I feel that English players need to be given even more opportunities in the top teams than is being afforded currently. We seem to be having good English players playing in defence as well as across the forward line but only Michael Carrick when it comes to the midfield. Is there any emerging talent from the academy or could someone be brought in from another club who possibly might play a big role in future seasons? A player/ players who can compliment/ supplement the midfield force we currently possess.

Most of the academy's exciting players seem to be CBs (Tuanzebe, Ro-Shaun), or attackers (Gribbin, Gomes). I'm not the most knowledgeable about the academy though, I could be wrong.

As far as players from other clubs go, if we're looking for a DM like Carrick it's got to be Dier. If we want more of a box-to-box type player I think we're shit out of luck because it doesn't seem like there is one. Most of the other English mids are #10s (Lallana, Alli etc). If we want a playmaker-type midfielder, I can't think of any English ones outside of Wilshere, who is made of glass, and Drinkwater, a former United player. Neither of those really inspire confidence so I imagine we would look elsewhere.

I think Alli has the qualities to play both B2B or even DM if he has the right mindset, reminds me a lot of a young Paul Ince

Lewis Cook, a cm bought by Bournemouth from Leeds this summer, is one to keep an eye on. Really talanted.

Yes, but he's still relatively young though.. The top clubs are waiting for him to prove himself and fully aware of his potential.

Maybe they were but he wanted guaranteed playtime? I thought spurs would pick him up but am happy they didn't

Angel Gomes comes to mind first, I've seen a bit of him not much though. England u16 (? I think) captain and scored a hatrick against Everton coming off the bench.

I am also from England. I feel that we shouldn't do it on nationality but instead by merit. Thankfully United have a few English talents that can play in the mid in the form of Gomes
