Now that hope is gone (ironic under a president who used "hope" as a slogan). Young millenials know they will never be millionaires, and have retreated into an inner world of videogames, weed, anime infantilism and porn. The boomers know deep in their hearts they are running on fumes, maybe taking a second mortgage or dipping into 401ks, but they know the best years are over. Of course pockets of wealth exist, but even there, there is a nervous lack of ability to predict the future. Nobody speaks with confidence about the economy.

The really sad part is that respected professions where good money could be made and use to be attainable for anybody willing to put in the hard work is now pretty much gone also.

For one, college has became so expensive that you get in so much debt that you'll never be above water. Then due to the rise of "internships", you must have a wealthy family to support you or gather even more debt while you work for free in your field until the profiteers are willing to start you at the absuloute lowest pay possible.

Now to get a good job, with or without college, you have to know somebody or be born into the right family.

My dad's father (my grandad) took care of 4 kids and a stay at home wife, owned a house, took nice vacations, had a bunch a savings and a good retirement plan and all he did was just a truck driver in the Teamster Union.

Now if you're a truck driver, single, no kids, live in a modest home you might not need food stamps to substain your existence.
