We’ve now reached the phase of a national story where political figures commentate on controversial stories, so here comes the White House and Donald Trump responses to Colin Kaepernick.
On Friday, Kaepernick stayed seated during the National Anthem, and people were having none of that.

There’s already been the military veteran take, saying he doesn’t understand the symbol and is missing the point.

Even the White House has responded, defending his right to make his statements, even if they don’t personally agree.
Now Donald Trump is involved.
During an interview on The Dori Monson show, he said:
“I have followed it and I think it’s personally not a good thing. I think it’s a terrible thing, and you know, maybe he should find a country that works better for him, let him try, it’s not gonna happen.”
Kaepernick has said he will continue to sit, saying black people are oppressed in America.
