With Fellaini being out for a while, I know we are deep at mid, but any chance Bastian gets a look? I mean he is (was) a class holding mid.

Nope. No way. Herrera played there in preseason, Carrick and Schneiderlin can too. He's at best fourth choice for that spot and hasn't been training with the team (so he'd be behind on Jose's tactics and what not).

Herrera, Carrick and Schneiderlin are all favoured I imagine. Don't think he has any chance, unless we have a major injury crisis.

Herrera was playing a holding position before Mou played Fellaini there, and with Schneiderlin and Carrick available, Basti still wouldn't likely make the bench

You can highly expect Herrera to start alongside Pogba as the holding midfield pair in the Manchester derby. Not that Herrera is the 3rd choice midfielder, but that his qualities will be useful for that particular match. The lad's so energetic he's bursting up & down the field trying to win back the ball all the time.

Fellaini's presence will be more missed against teams playing a bulkier & stronger midfield, but against Guardiola's side? Herrera is the way to go if we want to break City's tiki-taka play under Guardiola.

Since Herrera, Carrick and Schneiderlin all are ahead of Basti in the pecking order it's pretty obvious that the answer is no
