Yet another useless Rooney post: logical fallacies (self.reddevils)

Been seeing quite a lot of fallacies while arguing in the comments section (although I'm sure this can't be helped since most of you guys are probably 13 years old):

  1. Rooney made the winning assist, so therefore if he didn't play, United would have lost. No, someone else could have made the assist. Or not. We'll never know.

  2. Rooney has a bad first touch/slows down the attack, so therefore if he didn't play, we would have won by more goals. Again that's just dumb logic.

These are not logical fallacies. They're opinions. You made that quite clear when you said "we'll never know."

No you idiot. An opinion is "we would have played better without Rooney". A fallacy is "without Rooney we would have definitely scored more goals". Learn how to read.

Except that people are expressing it as their opinion, not a fact.

The fact you can't differentiate between the two then proceed to insult others intelligence is pretty funny.

People shouldn't have to precede every thought with "In my opinion" for you to grasp that it's an opinion, you melt.

Yes i know those heavily based on speculation, but unless you can't see the future you'll speculate a lot of thing especiay in the case like Rooney's when he played bad but still deliver an assist/goal
