Looks like Fellaini's out as Mourinho confirmed he has a 'bad' back injury.

I'm not really convinced on our alternatives; Schneiderlin, Herrera, Carrick, Bastian. I'd love Fosu Mensah to play there as he can offer some of the physicality and bite Fellaini's shown but I don't see Mourinho throwing him into a derby game in a position he's barely given an opportunity to play in.

You're not convinced by Schneiderlin, Herrera and Carrick - but you want to see TFM play there?

I don't get why so many people are saying this... He hasn't played in midfield for us once. He isn't ready for that.

He played there once when he was 16, in Holland.

Clearly more qualified than all the three you mentioned.

Played there a lot in the U21 last year.

Agree that we have practically no idea what Mourinho sees him as.

I think it will be Herrera or Carrick, them two seem to be next in Mourinho's trust order.

Schneiderlin I think still has a lot to prove and I am sure he will get his time to do so with more competitions coming up

It's a false injury so Fellé doesn't have to go international duty. Giggsy did it all the time with a 'hamstring ' injury... He's not risking him, instead can let him chill in prep for city game

Probably picked up a knock and made it more than it is so Fellaini won't worsen it next week.

I'd pick Herrera to partner him over TFM 10 times out of 10, he hasn't shown anything to suggest he'd be decent in midfield. Let him play in cup and Europa matches and prove himself
