Init lol I am one of the biggest Rooney sympathisers and supporters but even I know he's had a shocking start to the season even though his goal and assist tally is good. But ye deffo rather op than me XD

Ironically Rooney delivers when out wide. Twice.

People always say he's been wasted out there a lot but I think he's played some of his best football out wide where his flaws are less pronounced and his good delivery and work rate can have a good impact.

The only reason he did okay there was the fact Hull were tired close to the end of the game and so had to defend with a more compact shape, allowing him to exploit the space out wide.

We have a very fluid attacking 5.

Martial/Rashford can move into the box from LW and Mkhi/Mata can move centrally from RW. Ibra can drop deep and Rooney can make the runs in behind instead, Pogba can move forward and Rooney/Ibra can move deep

It think its strange when Miki and Rashford came on he started to become way better. Maybe because Miki and Rashford provide pace upfront which Mata and Ibra and Rooney lack.

he delivers

He delivered an assist. Can you be fucking real for a second? If he hadn't been on the pitch but a fast, skilful player who can control and pass a football (coughMkhtaryancough) had been, who's to say we wouldn't have played better?

We played with ten men for 90 minutes until Rooney did something. That doesn't mean he deserves his fucking place.

Kinda of a fallacy because we didn't get to see Mhki from the start; but in principle I agree with your point. Love Rooney but he's been on a steep decline for the past 4ish years.

I'd argue the only reason to start him is his tenure as captain and his grit in putting in a shift. He has found himself in the action despite playing poorly, and to Mourinho's credit you can't drop the club captain this soon into your time as manager and not expect dressing room ramifications. Mou's first goal upon arrival was changing the atmosphere around United and the "unhappy club, unhappy players" he met day 1. We are winning, giving a helluva effort each match, and we are smiling. Because we are disenfranchised by what we see in Rooney isn't a reason to call for his head, either.

We played with ten men for 90 minutes until Rooney did something

Bit of an overstatement. No worse than anybody else in the first half and was good in the second

He was one of the worst players in the first half, the fuck are you talking about? The only players I can say were as bad as him in the first half were Martial, maybe Ibra and maybe Pogba.

Mata and Fellani weren't anything special either and the defence/goalkeeper didn't have much to do.

I personally don't think Mata played all that well but apparently he did so there's that. Fellaini has been one of our best performers all season long and that continued through this game. Who cares if the defence and Dave didn't have much to do, does that make their performance worse than Rooney's?

[–]Launch_a_poo 0ポイント1ポイント  (0子コメント)

OK, but regardless of what you think of his first half performance, he was good in the 2nd and it was not like playing "with 10 men for 90 minutes"

[–]Squad77 7ポイント8ポイント  (0子コメント)

Yes he did give us the vital assist, but the rest of the game was really quite poor.

[–]Flick_My_Bean_Geoff 2ポイント3ポイント  (2子コメント)

His performance was cringe. Mkih showing what a proper no.10 can do.

[–]Crusty_Gammon_FlapsBailly 0ポイント1ポイント  (0子コメント)

Just because he delivers once in the game doesn't mean he played well. He had a poor game overall.

So, he was playing like a sunday league player for 91 minute and we should appreciate that? No.

There were plenty when he had that decent run of form last winter, in particular the game away to Newcastle. Problem is his decent runs of form are few and far between these days
