Rewards Shipping Update

Hey Guys!

Just a quick but sincere apology about the delay in posting this update. We were waiting for a schedule confirmation from our manufacturer about micro-USB and really wanted to include that info in this update. Thank you for your patience!

Shipment Update in August

Thank you for all your feedback in the past few weeks. For those of you who have already received your rewards, please share your user experiences with us! We appreciate honest feedback, it will help the other backers to get a better understanding of ZNAPS and help improving it in the future. We are getting lots of comments, emails and private messages from individual backers asking for the exact date when their ZNAPS will ship or arrive. We are trying to reply all of the enquiries as soon as possible but in the meantime, we have to focus on getting the rest of the rewards ready for shipping.

So far, we have tested and shipped over 400 ZNAPS rewards and approximately another 10,000 will be made and shipped to our backers in the coming few weeks.

ZNAPS testing apparatus: 5 lights = connection is good

Backers will receive an email from Shopify to inform you the tracking number. As a temporary precaution measure, we’ve been sending out another shipping notification email to our backers to confirm the tracking numbers again. Until now, we still have to assemble ZNAPS by hand so please bear with us for the slow production rate. A larger batch of ZNAPS is expected to be effectively shipped to our backers soon.

These are the different ZNAPS components:

Update on ZNAPS Micro-USB

A sample of the internal component of Micro-USB Adapters
A sample of the internal component of Micro-USB Adapters

We have just received the internal components for the Micro-USB adapters from our manufacturer. We were lucky to have slotted production after we worked out all the kinks for the lightning adapters or we would have encountered double the errors with the pogo pin fiasco. We will start testing next Monday and the lead time for Micro-USB to be be shipped out is approximately 30 days from Monday. Both black and white versions will be ready. After that, we will start handling the special edition rewards.

Alert Notification from iOS Devices

Some of the iPhone users might have encountered the following notification pop up on their phone screens as they start using ZNAPS:

Please go ahead and dismiss the message as this will be a one time notice as long as the connector remains in the charging port. This will not affect charging/data synchronization.

You may also try this: connect your cable to a power source, then attach the ZNAPS adapter and connector to your cable. Now plug the connector, with adapter and cable still attached, into the charging port of your phone. No wait 30 - 60 seconds before disconnecting the adapter from the connector. The above notification won't show up.

Quick Word About Magnetism

As discussed before, ZNAPS' magnetic strength was never meant to be strong enough so you can swing your cable with your phones remaining attached at the end without ZNAPS disconnecting. One of the basic uses for ZNAPS is so that won't happen. ZNAPS was designed so that it will disconnect when there's a sudden tug, which prevents your phones from flying around when you trip over your charging cables. ZNAPS was designed to protect your mobile devices. With that said, we do apologize for the variation in magnetic strength some of you are experiencing. If you feel that the magnets in your ZNAPS is not up to standard, then please email us at cs@znaps.net or PM us here. We will definitely investigate to see if some magnets are weaker than intended.

Also, please also note that if the magnetic strength is too strong, it defeats the purpose of the magnetic connection, because the connector can be pulled directly out of the charging port. (Please watch the video in "Update #37 Why ZNAPS?" for reference)

Change of Shipment Address or Order

If you’re still waiting for ZNAPS, please note that address update and order change are still available to our backers. We are so sorry for the unexpected shipment delay and we understand that some of you might have switched from iPhone to Android phone or found a new job in another state or country. Therefore, we are open to any address change request and we promise that it will be handled promptly. On the other hand, order change might lead to longer waiting time depending on the order’s complexity but we welcome any order changes if needed. You can either send an email to cs@znaps.net or PM us to make the changes.

Warm Reminder to Our Distributors

As mentioned in our previous update dated July 4th, we are still waiting for some of the distributors to verify their mailing address by replying to our email. Due to the large quantity of units, we feel the need to double confirm your mailing address before shipping it out. If you haven’t received our confirmation email, please contact us at distributor@znaps.net.

I dont understand. People send fake emails and steal a few bucks and then get prosecuted (as they should). How has this "company" essentially stolen 3million dollars and no one is doing anything? They have ten of thousands of products to ship out, and a year later have claimed to only have made 400 (yet i havent seen evidence of 1). This is theft.

Znaps, you can't even reply a simple question by email. Not even a simple auto-reply. You guys are pathetic... I hope you spend all your stolen money for your medicine. I wonder if there is anyone here to belive even a single word of yours.

    4. Tom Wilkinson about 19 hours ago

I'd say something really negative about this bullshit product and about kickstarter not doing anything about their lies, but I'd get banned again. So I won't be doing that.

    5. Daniel Hopkins about 22 hours ago

As someone who is an Electrical Engineer (and because of that not an Apple customer) the MFI problem isn't really a problem and would not be able to be avoided without making ZNAPS pointless. To avoid the problem, the phone half of the connector would have to have the chip in it... Which would make it quite large and it would stick out of your phone probably half an inch! When you plug a MFI cable into ZNAPS, the phone sees the cable's MFI chip and thus no warning. Really, all that MFI certification is suposed to do is make sure the cable can safely provided enough power without being dangerous (and perhaps make apple some money). In the end, if the ZNAPS can carry the current, they are doing their job.

    6. Daniel Hopkins about 22 hours ago

@Victor Do you think that multitudes of people calling this a scam, is going to help grease the skids and get this to move along any faster? It'd be like a micromanaging manager breaking down your neck. It's much more likely to cause a rushed mistake that will unravel the whole thing. Yes, a good number of kickstarters have failed. No, I don't think this one shows the signs of that yet. They are still trying and showing progress. As usual, the was quite a bit of underestimating the logistics and the design pitfalls but this was also overfunded by a significant factor. Bringing any product to market without having done so before is a very difficult endeavor and that is perhaps the biggest danger on kickstarter.

    7. Daniel Hopkins about 22 hours ago

      @ Henry
How do you expect to even have a chance to see backers posting they've received them with the constant spamming of post by those that haven't???

    8. Henry Heinsen about 23 hours ago

I want my money back it's been a yr and nothing. I don't even see any backers saying they have received any adapters. All that we get is theses updates. So is this real or thieving scammers I will never purchase a kickstart product again

Considering the number of these things you have to make, it blows my mind to learn you're assembling them by hand. And you're telling us to just ignore a message that says the connector is not certified when you said it was going to be MFI certified? Bold on your part.

    13. Mao Syna 2 days ago

Question...when you say that you're sending to 400 to 10,000 backers to test, are those backers all the same pick of pools from the very beginning, or do you guys pick brand new batches of backers? You know, for people (like me) who has never received it yet to test?

    14. Chris Gibson 2 days ago

@Andrzej I agree that this business is run super poorly. I'm no tmaking any excuses for ZNAPS at all. They are a poorly managed company and these updates and delays are all laughable. Nobody is getting anything that was projected at the beginning of this kickstarter. They should fill us in and be more HONEST. That is part of Kickstarter's accountability requirements. I'm not asking anyone to be patient. I'm telling them that they should accept that they probably won't get their item for a long time and, when they do, they'll be underwhelmed. I'm also telling them that they should get over that fact.

@Brent Burroughs I'm not using semantics though and I'm not defending them either. I definitely think that we should have recieved our products by now based on what they said. But they were over-ambitious and failed to meet their own expectations. I think they should absolutely own up to that instead of pretending like nothing is wrong. This project is failing. There is nothing else to say about it. But they're trying to get everything together so they don't lose everything. Kickstarter has accountability requirements and suggestions but refunds are NOT a thing. Companies that had failed Kickstarter projects that offered refunds did so by their own grace because they felt like it was the right thing to do but they are not legally obligated to do so (not via ny of my research anyways). The only way to legally FORCE refunds is via a lawsuit.

My comment still stands that reading through these comments shows me how many entitled people there are who legitimately don't understand what Kickstarter is.

Don't have your cable yet but really want one? suck it up, go buy one from a competitor (from a STORE or ONLINE SHOP) who did it RIGHT and just accept that you'll probably never see your $9 from this campaign.

@Daniel Hopkins You do know that there are certain project that got delayed and did not deliver in the end right? I hope you understand that these comment is for people to voice their view and I'm felt them, so should you.

If I fund these project because I'm an investor, they will have their CEO changed by now. Lucky for them, I'm just a retail customer pre-paying for a product.

      https://techcrunch.com/2015/10/14/a-1-5m-kickstarter-project-fails-leaving-most-backers-without-their-3d-printer/

The above project is a very good example of delays after delays. They will reach a point where the funds they received becomes insufficient for them to carry on producing whatever ZNAPS they had yet to deliver. I'm sure the crew are still getting paid salary. I'm sure those retooling cost them money to do. And lastly, I'm sure the staff will never dig into their pocket if they do not have enough money to carry on.

Correct me if I'm wrong. If anyone here thinks that delays are ok, they will still deliver. Please think again.

Those who complain are not just trying to whine here. They are trying to make sure things get moving. Those who think that the project is giving updates, it is progressing but just slower, please think again. Look at the link above and search for other similar projects. It all started with delays, delayed due to certain issue, due to factory, due to quality control.

Before others start telling me to stop whining, I hope everyone get their rewards in the end.

You are correct when you say you are different than the other charger cables, but not sure if that is a good thing. One main difference is that the other cables made ACTUALLY SHIPPED, yet yours, we get updates, late updates, but that is about it. No device yet.
Approaching the 1 year late marker. Will we get it before this or not? Probably not, but then again I am a realist.

Someone pointed out awhile back and it seemed to make sense that the way mfi certification works is that you apply and if Apple says yes you pay the fee and buy their lightning connector with the chip and they make the product and its mfi certified. But since Apple doesn't make a magnetic lightning connector for iPhone for them to buy n use on znaps mfi doesn't exist in this case for this product so it seems they did lie about mfi because the is no way they could get it in the first place.

@ Chris Gibson You're using semantics to argue, but even as "backers" getting "incentives" because of how its set up we are still promised these things or given ample explanation of why the project failed and then should be given money back according to kickstarter terms. According to US contract law, these incentives are still contractually obligated to us. Since we clicked on a pledge level that matched our desire product we are indeed supposed to get them.
Also most of us are not stupid, we are aware that a lot of companies here are start ups. Znaps DID NOT market themselves as a start up. They marketed their product as workable and ready to ship last november (a few months after pledging ended).

So yeah call everyone whiners, but don't try to talk down to everyone. I know what we are owed and i know how a company should run and this is at best a poorly managed project that tried too hard to get money (only $120,000 btw, that little amount of money would not cover a start up at all. not even close) and tried to ship too soon with a product that wasn't as developed as it should have been.

    38. Mario Peric 3 days ago

Bob, this is a scam. They screwed us over. These posts are just here so Kickstarter can say "see they are trying to", and no one can sue not Kickstarter nor them.

It is known, they are based in HKG (Hong Kong) and this is not their first "robbery". Just their biggest yet.

If we had known this earlier. Kickstarter is pretty much dead once this behavior picks up. And it will. After all Kickstarter made its money ... so did the "creator".

Probably pays some guy a couple hundred every few weeks to post their bullshit while nothing really happens.

Shipped 400? Another 10k coming, manufactured by hand? It took a year to ship these 400, if ..., how long will it take to build and then ship those 10k, not speaking of the 100k's in total. Exactly some 25 years.

They are simple thiefs by the way they conduct here. Ask em where the money is ...

    39. Bob Hazlewood 3 days ago

@Chris Gibson I really understand how Kickstarter works. I'm aware I'm founder.
BUT if someone is giving me timetable for his project I'm making my decision considering it.
I REALIZE we're talking about NEW product and I realize there can be problems/new solutions/etc. But we are NOT talking about delay of a month or two. Not even three. It's MORE THAT 1 YEAR now.
This product is no longer such a discovery. I've already bought something similar from other supplier.
So please DO NOT explain their mistakes. DO NOT tell me, I should be patient.
It is a business and I can see these guys can NOT fit themselves into this business.
I think there will be no surprise when I'll receive another ZNAPS update that there was some different case they need to check out and it will take few months more..
