15' The goalkeepers haven't really been forced into a save yet but both teams look to surge forward and attack when they can.

20' Most United attacks seem to be going through Martial on the left and he's looked okay but the team isn't really looking too sharp right now.

22' MANCHESTER UNITED YELLOW CARD Fellaini fouls Diomande from behind after clipping his foot and then stopping his progress as he was running at goal. Snodgrass will take...

24' Snodgrass gets it over the wall and it's always curling away from goal and it ends up maybe inches wide of the post.

26' Hull are looking bright and are playing some very good balls which is keeping United on the back foot for now. Snodgrass is now down but it didn't look too bad and he should be okay.

29' Hull have been defending stoutly and every shot from a United player is blocked and scrapped away.

32' Mata darts through the midfield and to the edge of the box but he's pushed over by Diomande and now we have a free kick in a very dangerous position.

33' Mata takes it but it's straight into the keeper's arms.

36' Hull survive! Mata dribbles into the box and drops his marker before forcing Jakupovic into a save, Rooney hits the rebound and it's blocked off the line and Hull sweep it clear!

42' United have dominated possession in recent minutes but no chances that definitely should've been scored yet. We've looked good but we need to create more chances and capitalise on them.

45' IBRAHIMOVIC HITS THE SIDE NETTING! Rooney swings the ball in and Ibra gets a touch on it, brings it down and tries to backheel it into the goal but it's into the side-netting...

A little slow this half - had possession, but not really been able to keep sustained attacks at the Hull goal.

  • Tempo has been a little slow, and has allowed Hull to get numbers back, who have been very focused in setting up when without the ball. Our players have been at times been making similar runs through the centre of the pitch and made it easier for Hull to close down the passing lane. Ibra and Rooney have both at times dropped deep early in our build up play, as has been the case so far this season - it could still be more coordinated, as it's been making the midfield congested and has effectively caused ourselves to close space. They are, however, working more cohesively in the final third.

  • It feels as though more width could be provided from the full backs. Shaw and Valencia could get down the wings more and provide more width to open up more spaces in Hull's midfield line. They have at times been taking the ball inside their respective winger rather than overlapping, running into Hull defenders rather than around, but also making it more difficult for them to get the ball back onto their dominant foot to play a ball in.

  • The fluid system of our front four is helping in making it difficult to for Hull to mark players, but one area which could be improved is positioning when a cross is played in. A number of crosses, more so on the left side, have been played in and cleared, but a United player has been missing on the edge of the box to recover the ball in a dangerous position and distribute or shoot. Fellaini has often moved up as another target on the end of the cross, with Pogba covering deeper, so ideally Mata or whoever is filling the right wing spot could look to hold their run. Interesting to note that while Mata has floated a lot, Martial has stuck to his wing more than he has in the last couple of games so far, perhaps due to Shaw not being as offensive as Valencia.

  • We haven't been troubled too much defensively thus far, with Bailly and Blind comfortable in dealing with Hernandez and/or Diomande, but we have looked a little overrun in midfield at times, with Rooney sometimes too high up the pitch to provide a defensive influence. Fellaini needs to be careful in this regard - when he's been beaten, he has been clumsy trying to win the ball from behind the attacker and has gotten a yellow as a result.

  • Indiivdually, Rooney has not been making too much of a case for himself so far. A 30 second spell in which he lost possession a number of times early in the half has summed up much of the criticism on him, although he has shown some smart off the ball movement through the channels in the final third.

Not enough movement off the ball. We're struggling to get any sort of passing game going. Pitch looks very heavy as well which doesn't help. We're resorting to cross which is not a bad tactic with Ibra in the box but our delivery has to be better.

Also mandatory Rooney comment - the guy is helpless against a packed defense. It really hurts to watch him.

Fellaini looks a bit of a liability in this game with the yellow card. I think Jose will give him 15 more minutes and then take him off for Schneiderlin or Herrera.

He might keep Rooney on for another 20 or so minutes to see if he improves. I've noticed recently that Rooney tends to be better in the second half. If there's no significant improvement, I want to see Mkhi and/or Rashford.
