Some of y'all seem surprised/curious/interested in the alt-right community. For some strange reason (partly professional partly personal) I've been a longtime lurker at stormfront, vdare and some other atrocious hate sites (less so these days, but I went through a period where I was curious about their philosophy. Again, never to subscribe to it--I've always been super liberal--but I was just curious WHY someone would believe some of these things.
Jared Taylor, who is getting a lot of attention due to Hillary's speech yesterday, is a big name in the community. He's supposedly a thinker and the architect of a lot of the alt-right arguments for immigration reform, white rights etc.
He's quite public, does a lot of interviews, and I'd recommend reading some as he's quite scary because he combines charm and obvious intelligence with illogical conclusions, hate and racism--in short, he's a great marketing tool for people looking to understand why they're not doing better in the world.
But the fascinating thing is, is he doesn't even believe white people are the so-called master race. He's said numerous times some Asian communities are "smarter than white people." Saying this does two things--it appears to deflect the charge of racist (how can I be racist!? I'm not saying white people are better than others!) and it also plays into familiar stereotypes and it ALSO affirms that race isn't a construct but an inherent set of traits unique to a people. It's all quite bizarre.
But anyway, you can also use this tidbit of info to make fun of the alt right community and point out they're such shitty, dumb people even Jared Taylor admits they're not the master race.
Anyway, here's his own words from an interview with The New Republic:
As for North Asians, I believe it is a fact of nature that they are smarter, on average, than whites. I believe it is a fact of nature that West Africans are better sprinters and East Africans are better distance runners than whites. It is not a question of being insulted but of better understanding our world. I believe that knowledge is always better than ignorance, and that we should pursue the truth wherever it leads.
