Patrick 'Pa' Ward hasn't had it easy, but one of the world's biggest football club's may be wearing a shirt designed by him in the 2017/18 season.

When Manchester United and Adidas teamed up to launch an initiative in which fans could design their own kit for the twenty-time English champions to wear, they probably weren't quite sure what to expect.

From supporters of opposition clubs creating as stupid and humorous designs as possible, to some genuinely interesting and appealing looking creations though; the response has been enormous.

One man who has created a shirt which has got everyone talking is Patrick 'Pa' Ward, and HITC have been fortunate enough to speak exclusively with the 31-year-old.

Ward's eye-catching design pays tribute to the Munich air Disaster, which claimed 23 lives and injured 19 more of the 44 passengers & crew member on board.

"I went through tons of ideas [..] but nothing stood out. It was after a few days when I noticed the dates matched with the 60th anniversary of the Munich disaster, I then decided it had to be a tribute kit."

The final design that he came up with features a faint yet iconic image of Manchester United's 'Busby Babes' team at the top of a white shirt, and is pictured below.

Mr Ward is a lifelong Manchester United fan and previously worked with the world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury in the Team Fury merchandising and web departments.

Having since parted ways with the man who beat Wladimir Klitschko to become world champion last year, Ward is now a stay-at-home Dad, where he takes care of five children.

He has no formal experience in fashion, design or sportswear, other than designing a couple of shirts online previously for his Twitter followers, but says if someone were to offer him a role within the industry as a result of his design, it would be "hard to turn it down".

When asked what it would mean if his design was chosen, Patrick replied by saying, "It would mean the world to me, what an honour and privilege it would be to see United wearing a kit i designed. And for it to be one with the Busby Babes on it would make it very special indeed."
