that's a terrifying level of spin.

"But the details are even worse than that. It has been confirmed that the State Department staff, under Hillary Clinton, was told to research new drugs to treat Parkinson’s disease."

yes. everyone on modafinil has parkinson's. that's obviously the only reason you would look into modafinil in her position.

I honestly just thought it was interesting any politician was looking into the benefits of Modafini.

Have you taken it? I cant believe it isnt universally used...

I can. It interferes with REM sleep due to its long half-life, and makes me irritable towards other people. I have around 120 left that I don't even want to take anymore after taking it many, many times. The effects are great, the side-effects aren't.

I got zero negative sides from infrequent use. Now armodafinil was no bueno.

Even if you get no other side-effects, it will still mess with sleep with its 15 hour half-life. In 30 hours, more than a full day, you're still on 25% of the dose you took.

So infrequently it's okay, assuming no other side-effects, but it can't be taken with any kind of regularity or you start disrupting your sleep. You'll only be getting slow-wave sleep and not REM, or as they say "passing out but not sleeping".

I actually saw that as a feature, not a bug. But then I am not a daily user. I would only use this when I knew I would be in exactly the situation you are describing and needed to push through. When I was in that gray area where some drug was left I just felt better rested on less sleep.

What did armodafinil do?

For me personally it is a much more rigid alertness. Modafinil is more of a hypomanic lack of fatigue for me. I can def feel blood pressure elevation on armodafinil as well.

Give them to me then. I have a medical condition thats need it. I cant afford it

I have sort of the same problem -- if I take it the first day is amazing but the second day and onwards the benefits are mitigated by the sleep problems it causes, so I end up keeping it for special occasions (for me one benefit is removing my social anxiety).

If I ever figure out a routine to fix the sleep issues, I'd start taking it regularly.

My dad has Parkinson's and Provigil is one of the very few drugs he ISN'T taking! Dude takes about a hundred pills a day.

provigil=modafinil, for those of us not familiar with all the brand names

Breitbart is now running the Trumpsterfire and a way they spew lies about people is by manufacturing videos which they edit dishonestly to "prove" shit they make up. They tend to try to attach them to seemingly disconnected things to get the "story" out there. This is just another Trumpspam-lie. Simply bury and ignore, it's bullshit.

Maybe she wants it...To stay awake? When 20 year old's here post about Modafinil, it's "great for studying", "keeps you awake", but oh man, someone running for President (who has to campaign and work hours on end every single day without break) wants Modafinil, and suddenly they have dementia???

We know now that as Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton dispatched her executive staff in the State Dept. to help conduct research on Provigil, a controlled drug often prescribed for patients suffering from Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, and Multiple Sclerosis.

Oh shit, what's that on Hillary Clinton's website? https://www.hillaryclinton.com/issues/alzheimers-disease/

I don't agree with most of what the article says, and I don't actually think she has dementia. I do, however, think it's interesting that she is looking into a substance that is taboo

It is interesting that she's looking into Modafinil. It doesn't mean she has dementia.

lol! This article is silly bullshit about a ridiculous and debunked conspiracy theory.

But hey, good try at lying about Clinton and pretending it was about medicine, though!

The article says that some people claim Hilary is showing symptoms of Parkinson's - what are they even talking about? What am I missing?

It sadly is not completely unfounded. Started to fall in 2009 when she broke elbow. More recently had pretty serious head trauma also from fall. The consequences are well documented in the emails. May have had a seizure on camera. Currently needs help climbing up the stairs. Reports of her aids carrying seizure pen, there are few idiots claiming they can see a catheter bag in some pictures. Does have bladder issues though, had to go during the debates. Also has the dementia smile. The emails also paint a pretty clear picture of someone who had either a ridiculously serious impactful concussion, or begun to shows signs of dementia type disease.

I don't know if I believe it, but at least her lack of appearances for the last 300 days makes more sense. The part of me that does probably just wants not Hillary and not Trump by whatever means necessary. Regardless, my money is also on dementia.

The majority of Americans were born around 1980 (median age 37) yet we're still putting the baby boomer generation in charge. Really, what the fuck, and I say that as someone born in the 1960s.

We need to have someone in their 40s and 50s in office to better represent the country and to have the kind of stamina this job requires. Someone who is 70 should be enjoying a quiet retirement or working on their own business projects, not trying to shape public policy or trying to put a golden crown on their career.

Hillary could have full blown alzheimers and would still be vastly more competent the Drumpf ; the Joke Candiate.

It is a completely unfounded conspiracy theory-lie bleated by Trumpkins pretending that Clinton is too old (she is younger than Trump) or too unhealthy (completely baseless lie) to be president. It was debunked the minute they started spewing it, but the Trumpster-fire crowd doesn't let the truth get in the way of their talking points. Breitbart even manufactured some fake videos to try to "prove" it by dishonestly pasting together a bunch of clips from different time periods to pretend something is wrong with her, which is a way they have harassed many people with ridiculous and untrue accusations.

It is all bullshit.

Modafinil is used by the POTUS to keep alert despite the constant change of time-zone.

Charitably speaking, this could be seeing if the drug actually makes sense for someone at her age. If not they would need to explore alternatives.

If I were a politician working long hours and have to be 100% mentally clear I'd be on Modafinil at all times.

Meh. I wouldn't NOT have some modafinil on hand and I don't have any such "health problems". I do think it's interesting though.

She's old. It's good for her.

I mean, I always assumed that lots of politicians took these things, ever since JFK and his injections of not only cortisone for his Addison's, but numerous other things, including stimulants. Obama sleeps three hours a night ... I doubt he hasn't taken a go pill before speeches, and more pills to sleep.

Signs of Parkinson's? Parkinson's is fairly obvious to those who know what to look for and could not really be hidden. She does not have Parkinsonisn gait or bradykinesia, etc. Silly.

It sounds more like she is being informed of the current drug being used in the military for vigilance, it sounds like part of a much longer thread, perhaps discussing certain things in the military. Which wouldn't be abnormal for the secretary of state.

Note that the email was a list of facts about its use in the military, not specific benefits or side effects - which is what you would expect if you were trying to inform someone of a medication they could try.

A clown against a woman with dementia. And I thought that here, in España, our politicians were a bad joke.

There is no evidence that she has dementia. Only speculation. She still does speeches very well. Wait for the debate (those cannot be scripted) and then see if she has dementia.

A clown against a woman

Now you're just being sexist.
