Going to United-Leicester. Transportation advice. (self.reddevils)

I managed to get tickets for the United - Leicester game on Sept 24th. This would be my first visit to OT and I am really excited. I am travelling with my wife and a friend. I was hoping to get some advice on the best mode of transportation from London.
Also, can we make this a day trip or do you advise staying the night in Manchester?

Train is the best way by far. But it is very expensive. £81 for a return

Otherwise, the coach is a good option at £20 from Victoria station to Oxford Road. However, it takes at least 4 and a half hours. I believe the game is an early kick off so if you wanted to take the coach you would probably have to go the night before and get a hotel room.

If you choose the train you can comfortably get to Manchester and back in one day. From Manchester Piccadilly station you can walk to the tram spot and travel to the stadium from there. Otherwise its a 15 min cab ride or an hour and a bit of walking.
