Everyone when talking about the new signings rave on about how great those signings were - and I agree. But the most exciting thing I think is the enormous depth we have, especially in midfield. Starting from the back we will most likely start bailley and smalling, as a result we have blind and jones (if he doesn't get sold), and rojo (who still despite criticism is a talented player). In the midfield oh my god.... I don't see a single team in Europe with as much depth as United in the middle of the pitch. From a defensive standpoint, we still have Schneiderlin, Schweinsteiger, and Fellaini. I believe all three players still have a whole lot of talent and could definitely benefit with the style of play Mourinho brings. Then you've got Carrick, who can play almost anywhere in the midfield and show off his leadership and hard work match in and out. For attacking midfield, there are just purely world class options in Mata, Herrera, Mkhitaryan, and hell even Rooney (who I don't think is that effective but can still drop back into this role). Along with the talent Utd have in this attacking midfield, the young talent in Perrera and Lingard show fans the true strength in numbers. While I believe that neither of these players are ready for regular appearances I believe if they get an occasional chance or two they can be extremely dangerous because of their will and raw talent. Finally we move on to the attack. I don't believe that United have the flashiest forwards in the world (sorry guys but we aren't MLS) we have a bunch of players who go out and score goals and lots of them. For the first time since RVP Fergie days, we have a out and out goal scorer in Zlatan who is just having fun right now. Add a young and upcoming Martial (despite his dipping form in the beginning of the season) along with a still raw and talented Memphis Depay (still have hope for him) and you have a very strong core in the attack. Rooney will be key in forming partnerships on and off the pitch with a lot of these players and will still have to nurture one of the biggest young talents on this team, Marcus Rashford. Now as I wrap up my post, you'll probably notice how I left off Pogba from this discussion and I think I'll keep it that way. We know what type of talent he is and what he'll bring to the team so there is no need for me to rave on about him. I wanted to show you guys how excited I am this year for the Utd season and that's just including 85% of the squad. Factor in our fullbacks and pogba and mourinho and well...this is gonna be a very fun year.
