About this project
The Ascent Survivor paracord watch was created to be the most important survival tool in your arsenal of outdoor gear. Ascent’s conception started out of necessity for a better way of keeping crucial survival tools within reach. We designed our survival watch to withstand the lifestyle of a person who is constantly exploring and pushing their boundaries. With the Ascent Survival Watch unique design, overcoming adversity is never an arms' length away.
The Conception
Creating the Ascent Survival Watch began after a simple realization. Keep the tools you need the most, right where you want them. We noticed casual hikers and the most extreme outdoor enthusiasts needed a better way of keeping their most essential tools close by. With this is mind, we knew that assembling the perfect collection of survival tools should not mean you have to sacrifice style for functionality.
Understanding that the most essential elements in a survivor’s kit usually has to do with three elements: Navigation, Food Supply and Safety applications. Encompassed in Ascent’s closure are the necessary tools packaged in a sleek and minimalistic way that makes sense. The enclosure unit composed of: Emergency whistle that emits a high pitch distress call that can alert rescuers. Miniature compass enclosed at a glance. Ferro Rod that when used with striker creates the necessary spark needed to start your fire. Serrated Striker that is used to spark a fire as well as strong enough to cut through necessary brush and shrubbery to build your fire.
Paracord was first used as suspension lines for U.S parachutes during WWII. Paracord has proven itself useful in hundreds, if not thousands of other lifesaving ways. The braided sheath has a number of interwoven nylon or polyester fiber cords. The braided sheath around the nylon fibers adds strength and flexibility to its overall design. This makes it compact, fashionable, and highly useful in survival situations.
Our team of designers have made numerous renditions to ensure our design and functionality made it more efficient when accessing the tools you need. After testing multiple watch faces, we found the traditional 3-hand illuminated analog face with date feature offered the easiest way to tell time in any situation.
One of our biggest challenges was finding a way of combining a braid that would maximize the amount paracord per band as well as disassemble quickly when needed.
We found that the most commonly braided paracord patterns allowed for quick disassembly, yet sacrificed the overall length of paracord in the band.
To combat this, we designed our own Ascent Survival Paracord watch band weave, handmade to ensure maximum paracord length at 4.5-feet per band and unique customizable cord options.
Movement
We sought out to find the best input components on the market to make sure the Ascent Survivor was reliable when you need it most. Inside of the Ascent watches are Miyota 2415 Miyota which has been a reputable and reliable movement components for brands like Citizen for decades. Their movements are backed with industry leading accuracy and built to last.
The Miyota 2415 exceeded our needs perfectly and ensured a quality timepiece. Furthermore, their movements are made with mercury-free batteries and in RoHS compliant facilities which is important when it comes to ensuring the well-being of our planet as we explore it.
Many believe that automatic watches are unmatched when it comes to reliability and timekeeping capabilities. That is a bold statement often said yet not typically the case, a quartz will tell time just as well, if not better. A quartz is a phenomenal alternative to an automatic movement.

We believe in our watches. And you should too. If anything were to happen to your watch within the first 1 years, we hope that you will send it back to us for repair or replacement. We will cover all internal parts should they ever fail you.

Each band is equipped with 4.5 ft of paracord (data was based off the average wrist size of 7.5in).
We have established a solid relationship with our manufacturing partners over the last year. We choose to work with this reputable manufacturer group because of their attention to detail, quality control, and amazing customer service.
There has been frequent communication between us and will continue to be throughout this entire process, talking about our goals and expectations. We can confidently say that our goals are aligned. We have developed multiple iterations of our prototype to ensure that our manufacture can back up what they promise.
With your support we will be able to make this concept a reality. After the kickstarter campaign concludes we will send out surveys to get our backers information and then quickly begin the manufacturing process.
The bands are not adjustable each band will be made to fit the size you specify. The sizes available are ,6.5",7",7.5",8". When measuring your wrist we suggest you leave a little wiggle room to ensure proper fitting.
Ascent Survival consists of a small focused team built around the core value that when you are on the trail: only carry what works. Our team is made up of three outdoor extremists and built upon years of travel and backpacking across 4 continents. The team prides themselves on being multi-functional outdoor freaks and relish in the fact that any challenge should be easily overcome with the tools you choose to carry. With that being said, Leading product design and manufacturing relations will be the brother team of Jake and Riley. While Nick handles backer relations and concerns. With the amount of hours spent trail-testing and experimenting with various outdoor tools, we are confident in the purpose that Ascent will serve you all. Risks and challenges
If this project gets funded, we will have to make sure everything goes according to plan to meet the promised deadlines. Projects often have trouble when facing the production process and deadlines for shipment. The project could face possible challenges if the quality of the product or packaging does not meet our requirements after production. We would have to have another production run if this is the case. However, we have experience and close relations in manufacturing and production. We will not be outsourcing the post-production work to another company. Our team is prepared to ensure that post-funding will run smoothly. Although we do not see any direct risks and challenges, there are always indirect or unseen tasks that may present itself during the process of production. We hope to run everything as streamlined as possible and ahead of schedule.
