Mata had a great fucking game. And Mkhi looked very very good when he came on. I'm loving the competition for places in the squad. It's just a pity that it looks like Rooney still has undroppable status - thought he was good tonight, but he should subject to the same level of rotation as everyone else.

I admire that Rooney is still able to get end product when he isn't playing well but I thought minus his assist he didn't do anything good. Basically proved Jose's criticism that he can only pick a pass in acres of space

I was actually pretty impressed with how he completed for jump balls today. Didn't win them all but he made it difficult for far larger players.

Oh yeah no problem I can see the confusion. Basically Mata backed out of challenges a few times when he didn't have a chance so he did lose the ball but since he didn't technically compete for it I guess it didn't register.

Rooney needs to get dropped to motivate him a little extra or something. I love him for his role as a captain but going forward he slows us down to much. Specially against top sides those few split seconds are so important.

Nice, but it's his attacking contributions we should be looking at as fans, far too many fans overlook his quality.

Those little passing exchanges which lead to through balls or shots or in this case a penalty.

To make that happen he had to go to the left side of the pitch where he can link up with people like shaw and martial and pogba.

Rooney doesn't really do it so the fact he's in the middle makes it harder for everyone else to do it.

Put mata inside and Mhkitaryen on the right and all of a sudden our front 5 can all play amazing football.

I really want Mata in the 10 and Micky on the Right. There were a lot of times where we could've countered but the only one who was fast enough was Martial and Shaw.
