Thoughts on Rooney giving Blind the captain armband? (self.reddevils)

There's players with more seniority in the team, Valencia being a clear example (as he played with the armband during preseason). Is it Rooney's choice?

I wouldn't make much of it. But in any case, Valencia has been captain before. Also, there's De Gea who I think should be right up there, and also of course Smalling himself. But there's also the fact that Blind is easily one of the most intelligent footballers I've seen in a while.

Blind has got a fantastic football brain. He does a fair bit of directing from the back as it is. He would get the armband regardless of whether Rooney was subbed in the 1st minute or the last minute.
