I don't mean to offend anyone. I just want to get a point across. I was born in Ghana, but grew up in America. Whenever I hear someone address me as African American it irks me. White people are generally called Caucasians and POC are officially stated as black on their passports, at least mine.
For them to completely ignore that and come up with their own general phrase is incredibly presumptuous. I know some of them don't intend to come off at racist and refuse to say black, but that seems a bit redundant because everything can be heard as racist with the right tone.
