0' The teams are out. United in red, Southampton in black. The excitement is palpable...

0' United kick off! We're attacking the Stretford End for the first half.

1' Southampton have a free kick in a dangerous position after Pogba gives the ball away in midfield.

1' Tadic smacks the ball into the wall and it's a Southampton throw in. United eventually get it clear.

5' Valencia picks the ball up from Rooney in midfield and bursts down the wing and wins United the first corner of the game. Mata swings it in but it's cleared by Southampton. It's back to Mata again but Southampton get it clear.

10' Valencia has been heavily involved early on and interplay between himself and Mata wins us another corner. Romeu is injured and will need replacing. Clasie is going to come on.

11' SOUTHAMPTON SUBSTITUTION Clasie ON || Romeu OFF

13' Pogba gets our first shot on target. Mata plays a ball over the top to Ibrahimovic who eventually lays off Pogba, but his shot is straight at Forster.

17' Southampton have grown into the game now and have had quite a bit of possession in the past few minutes. No real chances yet but they're playing good passes in dangerous areas.

20' United surge forward and it ends with Shaw playing Rooney in but instead of taking a left-footed shot at goal, he tries to chip the ball into Mata and Forster cuts it out.

15' Southampton have a free kick that's drilled into the box and it eventually falls to Long but he swivels and shoots and hits the side netting.

    I think we should all realize that Martial was the standout last season because of two reasons. First being he was amazing. Second being we had poor performing players all over the pitch making him standout even more.

    He is now surrounded by better performances from a large number of players, so it will feel different. But I believe he will make the difference when the opportunity presents itself
