I can see starting this thread was a serious mistake. Rod has stated in at least one radio interview and in at least one personal public appearance that he was bullied when he was a kid here and that he left intending to never return. He had a change of heart when the saw the love and compassion people had for his sister and brought his family home. I can only hope he has not seen this thread because it might bring him full circle.

With Rod's connections and all this publicity, maybe he could help the school system since we are losing good teachers. Put his fame to a good cause.

He is a little Narcissistic in my Opinion
yeah everything he's blogging now is about how he was so misunderstood by his daddy and sister. now he gets to try her in the court of public opinion without having to worry about her talking back. a few faint praise compliments. a lot of how human and not a saint. backhanding her with sweet faint praise

It's more "me" than his sister. His parents are very sweet folks and so was Ruthie and Mike. I personally would have liked to read more about her since the book was about her than his spiritual reality.

Its not like there is a giant vat of "love and compassion" out there from which one can help themselves. Love and compassion can only be shared. Love and compassion are earned. Ruthie earned way more than her share of love and compassion and she was quick to share with whomever needed some. Quite unlike her brother.

Some people leave SF because they claim that we all are dumb-asses, often complaining that the people "here" don't understand them, or because "they" are a bunch of rednecks, etc. But, isn't amazing that some come back home claiming to have "seen the light" and that we are not quite as dumb or as "red" as we were when they left?

He is making money off of a terrible situation. He didn't have a relationship with his sister and anyone else as I recall. He always thought he was better than anyone else in school. I am In awe that he is being promoted with this book about a wonderful and loving person. Ruthie was a piece of St Francisville and a piece of our school. Rod would never know that. He left because he was BETTER than the hicks here. Everyone loved Ruthie and Mike. They are Good people and represented what a REAL family looks like. It absolutely discusses me and makes me sick in my stomach to think one would use a family members passing to make money. I guess old relationships don't change.

Yep. Just as I figured. There's something in the book to offend just about everyone.

There are some pretty mean posters on here. This is a well-written book about a lovely lady and a caring community. The author quite naturally has to promote it to justify his big advance and generate sales; perhaps he may be a bit TOO good at self-promotion, and surely he could find someone more representative of the West Feliciana community than Ronnie Morgan. That being said, we wish him well in his return home.

I'm willing to bet that Rod the Wad will not be living in WF Parish this time next year. I think he may be beginning to understand that he will never be completely accepted by we redneck country bumpkins. Those who know him want nothing to do with him. I feel for his wife and children.
