IOFIT is the world’s first smart shoes that helps golfers quickly and smartly improve their game while having fun.
About this project
IOFIT is a smart golf shoes that analyze your golf swing and provide instant feedback through a mobile app to improve your game.
IOFIT smart shoes measure your balance and weight shift in real-time using extremely thin pressure sensors embedded in the outsole, and wirelessly transfer these data to your smartphone using Bluetooth connectivity.
IOFIT was designed to accurately detect every subtle changes in the pressure distribution in a matter of milliseconds. The sensors themselves arewaterproof and carefully built to withstand excessive amount of weight, of up to 330 lbs (150 kg).

We've concentrated our efforts to ensure developing a great piece of technology, but also a great shoe in and of itself. With help of a product designer from PING and some of the finest shoe manufacturers in South Korea, we’ve carefully designed and tested IOFIT to ensure developing a durable, breathable, waterproof, and lightweight golf shoe.
IOFIT gives you access to invisible datathat cannot be captured by the human eye, such as your pressure distribution, CoP (Center of Pressure), left/right balance, and front/back balance in real-time. Just take a swing with IOFIT out on the course, on the range, or even on your backyard, and IOFIT will provide you with data only the professional golfers and coaches have had access to so far.
Not sure what you are supposed to do with all the metrics above? Don’t worry because IOFIT will guide you through with instant and personalized feedback. IOFIT will analyze your swing based on your balance data and highlight mistakes you are making, be it as simple as leaning forward too much to transitioning your weight too late at the impact.
Want to brag to your friends that you are a better golfer than them? Let IOFIT be the judge! Challenge and compete with your friends using IOFIT metrics and analysis not only to learn from them but also just to have fun.
Share your performance with your coaches and friends without the restriction of time and place. Compare your swing with them and also receive lessons from your coach even when you are home.
With voice-over and drawing tools, coaches can easily send their students with detailed and helpful feedback anywhere through their smartphone or tablet.

Our company began as a spin-off startup from Samsung’s Creative Lab last August. We began working on this project when one of our founders, who used to suffer from serious back pain, realized the absolute importance of physical balance and how it all starts from your feet.
Many people regarded smart shoes to be impossible and not surprisingly, we went through long periods of trial-and-error in developing our product. However, we were able to push until the end because we believed in the life-changing value of not only our product, but our challenge itself.
Starting with golf, our company’s vision is to make every shoe in the world smart to bring change across vast spectrum of industries including rehabilitation, entertainment, and our daily lifestyle.
We came a long way to turn our idea into a real product with the support of many loved ones, and we are excited about this opportunity to share it with the world. Risks and challenges
Just like any other hardware startup, we’ve struggled with number of challenges and uncertainties in building a unique product. Because smart shoe is still something that is largely proof-of-concept, we had to develop everything from start to end. As a footwear, securing durability, comfortability, and water-resistance were important issues at hand. Despite the difficulties, we are here today because we believed in the life-changing value smart shoes could bring into our lives.
With our production plan lined up with some of the best manufacturers in South Korea, we are looking to manage both the cost and quality of our product. We are searching for creative innovators like you to partake in our journey of new possibilities with the mission to help people live smarter and healthier.

Fundamentally, the outsole part of the shoe as well as the sensors inside are waterproof, but the shoe upper may not be depending on the material used. While the sports design is made to be rain-proof, the classic design might not be as resistant.

Each of our footwear goes through comprehensive range of testing to ensure its maximum comfort, fit, performance, flexibility durability, and safety for the users.

Throughout the development process, we’ve continuously referenced our results to that of force plates used in hospitals and rehabilitation centers, and therefore can guarantee high accuracy of data.

Coin-cell battery are embedded in the shoe outsole and lasts approximately 5 days with 2 hours of average use per day. When the battery runs out, simply take it out through bottom part of the outsole and replace it with a new one.

In the future, we will be creating more apps related to other sports and even entertainment that will be compatible with the original shoe device.

No, you don't necessarily need a second person to record each swing for you. Our app has individual mode that allows you to record the same accurate data with your smartphone in your pocket!
