Bethesda deserves props for publishing these titles and getting the right teams to develop them.

Both games (including Old Blood) were amazing fun. They were also fun by keeping it simple.

Doom was a very pleasant surprise and damn do I hope we get more single player content. It is a ton of fun.

Wolfenstein also falls into the same category.

Perhaps they should acquire the Duke Nukem license...

What I was most impressed is that they were fun by keeping it simple. Some could argue that both games got repetitive, but I never felt way.

Nah, Bethesda doesn't need Duke Nukem.

Besides 3D Realms is back (Owned by Interceptor Entertainment) so Gearbox might as well give them the license.

For the hardcore, sure... but aren't Fallout 4 and Skyrim the best selling games in their respective series?

Funny, they're at their best if you ask me.

Although Fallout 4 was a step back.

I didn't know they had acquired the rights to Final Fantasy and PSO as well.

I can't agree more, I loved the new Wolfenstein and Doom a lot.

Wolfenstein was my biggest surprise of 2014 while DOOM is shaping up to be one of my favorite games of 2016.

Is Doom worth giving another shot if I thought the demo level was terrible?

Three posts in before a drive-by shitpost.

Remember that thread where it was asked which gaming topic always derails threads?

Yeah, Bethesda is my answer.

The demo really should have been halfway through the game. The demo is just the short first level where you're fighting basic enemies with basic weapons, but it doesn't stay like that. DOOM is a game that keeps getting better and better, so I think yes.

I just played both back-to-back and couldn't agree more. Enjoyed each immensely for their spectacular gunplay. Both were just really fun and had lots going for them for different reasons.

Bethesda is a stellar single player publisher as a whole. Doom & Wolfenstein were both huge wins and I personally cannot wait for the inevitable sequels.

Doom gets better the more upgrades you get and the combat gets more interesting and intense deeper in the game. It's one of the most well paced shooters in a long time IMO.

Hell yes!

The first level of DOOM is literally complete shit in comparison to the latter parts of the game.

Once you've got more guns and upgraded your shit the game plays very differently. Plus the game continues to throw new demons at you until the very end.

Play DOOM if you have any interest in FPS. It's the best FPS campaign in years and years.

They should stick with FPS games, to me they are much better at publishing awesome FPS games than they are trying to make RPG games.

Hell, Fallout 4 seemed like a desperate cry that they wanna make FPS games rather than RPGs.

Yep - the demo doesn't show it at its best. I didn't like the demo but took a punt anyway - now I think the game is incredible!

Cane here to say this...

Bethesda Game Studios has effectively killed any interest I had left in the Fallout franchise as far as games made by them go.

Somebody notify when the Bethesda publisher hire Obsidian again to make another Fallout game or any other studio with actual writing talent that doesn't basically tell their game fans to fuck off every time their story is subjected to critism because they took one too many "creative freedoms" that completely ignores ore established gane lore.

DOOM was phenomenal in my opinion, Wolfenstein as well as The Old Blood were pretty solid as well. I still want a Quake remake, and I'll continue to hope that we'll eventually get that one day. Lovecraftian art style and all.

I'm sure the worst part of the job is losing the real fans when making sequels.
