Zlatan og Bailly as captain? are you joking?

Bailly doesn't even speak English

Ffs I found this so funny for some reason.

no need to speaking. He can pinging anywhere on the map.

Oh wait wrong sub ...

[–]Rolling_TomassiShaw 12ポイント13ポイント  (4子コメント)

Put Zlatan or Bailly as captain? Are you plain dense or what?

Noone walks into United a captain.

Do you think the reason Rooney gave the armband to Blind yesterday was just to avoid wasting time? I'm just curious to hear what the potential pecking order might/should be now.

[–]Rolling_TomassiShaw 0ポイント1ポイント  (0子コメント)

Blind has been quite the leader at the back. Who else would get it? The only other player who's been at the club a while and could act as a leader is Valencia, and I don't know if his English is good enough.

Bailly is a ridiculous suggestion but I see zlatan being a much more inspirational leader than Rooney. He's not exactly walking into a team full of leaders anyway. Plus he's the better player

Really well thought out opinion you got there

Yeah great idea making Bailly the captain when only Zlatan, Pogba, Martial and Schneiderlin would understand him.

And Fellaini and Mkhitaryan

Bailly as captain? This isn't FIFA or FM.

You do that in FM and you will probably get unhappy players.

We're not playing Rooney because he's a "club hero". Mourinho clearly values him and thinks he can get the most out of him.

It's just that you and a large proportion of this sub clearly disagree. But all our opinions altogether are worth much less than the manager's. We're not at the point yet where we should be calling for players' heads. I'm sure Mourinho will change things up if needed.

all our opinions altogether are worth much less than the manager's.

That quote deserves highlighting.

If people want to disagree with that idea, at least come prepared with some tactical analysis, and not just a statement of "he looked bad, m'kay?". I'd also recommend leaving out statements like "the guy who just played his very first EPL game should be captain."

at least come prepared with some tactical analysis,

The problem here, is a lot of people will do the armchair analysis. There's very few genuine tacticians imho, probably because they're likely to be actually working in the job themselves. And even those who are tactically adept (or give off that impression) are never ever going to be on the level of a Premier League Manager when it comes to practical knowledge imho. >_>

I'm not saying managers should be immune to criticism, but I reckon a lot of amateur tactical analysis is probably not that special and has already been considered by the manager.

Putting the onus on just one side is silly considering both sides should be using individual critical thinking, arguments and analysis. Putting it only on one side comes off as hiding behind the tired old statement of 'I'm sure the manager knows best'. It just looks lazy to use it as a retort if you don't also come with your own individual points. Both sides should be bringing decent points to the table.

I tend to agree with that logic... but at the same time, if we just accept that at face value, wtf are we doing in this sub? should we just share instagram photos of the players and never engage in any tactical discussions? Were any of us more tactically adept than Moyes or LvG when we disagreed with certain decision they made? Absolutely not, and yet in hindsight it would seem that we were right (not me specifically, I've always stood by LvG and even Moyes... I think that's why I have this perspective now).

I don't think people disagreeing should necessarily have incredibly thought out solutions or even prepare a tactical analysis... just explaining their reasoning beyond "he had a shit game" would be a massive improvement.

We can but its up to Mo to decide on what happens and action on it.

Mo Farah? Three gold medals really gets you a lot of influence!

As long as he scores goals and we are winning, he won't be dropped

Tony i agree with. But just because someone has "character" you cant make them captain. They have to understand the club. Know what it means to put the shirt on. And no one bar a few in our squad know that.

Bailly as our captain? He's played one league game for us. Ditto Zlatan. Think Valencia would be a solid captain though.

Mourinho is a fantastic judge of a players character and ability. Remember Casillas at Real? He was a bigger legend for them (and Spain) than Rooney is for us yet José saw that his time was up and dropped him. Unfortunately for him the players rebelled and ultimately caused him to lose his job when he was the only manager able to break the Barca dominance. Yet another poor decision for Real.

I digress, if José thinks Rooney still has something to contribute then you have to take his word for it because he is far better at judging a players worth than any of us and his opinion is the only one that makes a difference.

And don't forget, Rooney is always slow to start - his form could pick up when we get into October.

There's rumours that he has a clause in his contract where he has to play a certain amount of minutes each season, similar to Ronaldos contract when he first joined which stated he had to play 50% of the time

He always takes time to get going in the season. I think it's fair to give him a run of games to see if he gets back into form. If he is still the same in October, then I feel he should be dropped for a few games.

Worst opinion ever. But. Can we at least let Rooney play 10 matches before judging him under Mou?

Here comes another revolutionary opinion

In May 2017 when Rooney scores his 20th of season, you will get your answer

Wow. You really think he'll 20? in the league or overall? Im really curious.

Im confident if he stays fit - in league 20+

As long as United scores the first goal, 70% of the time, then I agree with you that he can score 20, Jose' style opens up quite a bit once they get the first goal.

He played one match "badly" and still managed to have 3 clear chances and score 1

I wish my bad Sunday league games were as "bad" as Rooney's.

He is playing his role on the pitch right now imo...it has been like this for his entire career whether that is playing midfield, striker, defender or just being the captain now (while still contributing to the team in some portion)

Until Rooney stops scoring, he should stay in the team.
