No one is forcing Rooney into the side, it's just damn hard to force him out as of now, Jose is probably giving him enough rope but even if he was very poor the whole game killing attacks, he somehow found a way to score and people come out and say 'He proved you doubters wrong'

I mean Rooney seemed rusty but I think he didn't perform as bad as people think. This might go against what many people say but last season he was injured and Mata played his position, didn't exactly light the league on fire. Mata is a great player but there is a reason Jose sold him. Jose knows what he is doing, and he will bench Rooney in a second if it is hurting the team which means that it is hurting him. There is no one Jose wants to succeed more than himself.

IMO, Jose wanted to show that players from our previous squad plus couple of new signing were good enough to win a team like Bournemouth and surprise everyone with full force in a game against bigger team by dropping rooney and play 4:3:3. I don't think he will drop his new signing and very talented No.10 as well as very good right winger like Micki for big games. My prediction for lineup Jose will use in this season the most is

It's hard enough to drop him from the 11 let alone the squad it self, Rooney is poor and he shouldn't start that's true but coming on as a sub when needed he can contribute with goals, but as a number 10 he hinders attacks.
