I feel like mods do more damage than good. I don't really care if I see a racist comment and the default system in place, the downvote, should be allowed to work.

I'm also a fan of letting racist show their true colors. It only hurts their argument in the eyes of reasonable people.

Yeah it also makes people complaining about racism not look like they're overreacting

Then again, it looks like we're being birgaded. I have seen a lot of reasonable posts downvoted while the racist shit is being upvoted. On a normal day, the downvote arrow usually takes care of the racists.

I appreciate the mods, the racist comments were getting out of hand. This story has been linked in /r/news and other big subreddits, so there was an influx of racist trolls making comments. Again, thank you.

FYI: this thread is very clearly being brigaded

Was it really getting out of hand though? I've went through probably all of that discussion and didn't really see more than a few comments that stood out to me.

same here, I was up commenting on the mega thread overnight and this morning, sorting comments via new and not seeing much.

The mods did delete a post about a person saying they were near the rioting and were scared and another one showing the rioters shouting to beat up all white people and a car with a white person getting attacked. It wasn't the best video, but it showed what was happening last night.

Anything that makes whites look like victims or shows blacks being hateful is racist and needs to be deleted according to the mods.

didn't really see more than a few comments that stood out to me.

Even one comment ascribing blame to the violent black racists is too many. The official line is it's systemic oppression, combined with white police brutality and not enough financial redistribution.

No it wasn't out of hand by any means.

That post should not have been deleted as I mentioned above. We were trying to, and did, remove a lot of policy-breaking comments as they came through but we were just unable to keep up.

Says the user who is cheering censorship of actual hate crimes.

The video of white citizens being targeted and jumped while the crowd chants "black power" shouldn't be removed from this subreddit. It should be stickied with a warning that there are gangs of violent racists looking to kill you if you enter the wrong neighborhood.

Yes, and a great way to do that is by posting a video with a commentator referring to the rioters as "niggas and crack babies"

Keep in mind that a lot of people posting here today are not even from Milwaukee.

    [–]MurDoctFalls 4ポイント5ポイント  (0子コメント)

Mods did what they had to do last night. Some comments did get a little bit out of hand. Some of the focus was on the moderation of the sub instead of maybe using a thread to post local updates and try to get information to use to keep yourself and your loved ones out of harms way during the events last night.

Today is a new day, and hopefully the streets of Milwaukee and this subreddit can stay calm for a bit.

BLM is saying to go after whites.

    [–]17291riverwest 4ポイント5ポイント  (2子コメント)

Officially? Any asshole can claim to be associated with BLM or do shitty things in the name of BLM.

    [–]ownage7827 1ポイント2ポイント  (1子コメント)

Plenty of their supporters on twitter are promoting it. Their supporters are corresponding directly with BLM leaders.
