Call me a cynic, but I still feel we shouldn't be jumping to conclusions just yet. This match was against Bournemouth on a very narrow pitch...a match that perfectly suits a player of Fellaini's attributes.

Yes of course, but that's exactly what he provides! Great aerial presence in games where you need it. If Mou plays him like this against select opposition, will be a fantastic option.

Agreed. I'm just saying I don't think we should expect the same results if he plays against the "bigger sides". People here have a record of going from pro-Fellaini to "SELL HIM OFF!" at the drop of a hat. Unlike LVG, I think Mourinho knows when to use him and when not to.

I have to eat crow here. I'm not sure if i commented anywhere or not but I was absolutely certain that Fellaini needed to be off the pitch. Played great today. Had joked early about he and Pogba being two beasts in the back but my god I didn't think it would actually happen.

He was much much much better today - I would go as far as saying that was his best ever performance

He kept the needless fouls to a minimum

Broke up play well and good general positioning

When he got his football on the ball more often than not made the right pass

Hope he keeps it up, and from the looks of it Mourinho really likes him (rumours he might be offered a new deal) and it looks like he might be his new Matic - which I would have never guessed in the summer hahaha

He needs to play this way, every time (maybe not a 98 pass completion, 90's are fine) and he will find a nice place in the squad.
