    I'm pretty sure it was. I remember it was a lot more fun and gentler. Somewhere along the way the lines kinda got blurred.

    1. Trump started winning, then dominating the GOP primaries. Suddenly all those people just there for some bantz became True Believers. They're young and impressionable and easily swayed by herd mentality (and dank memes!), it was inevitable.

    2. Bernie supporters muddied the water with all their anti-Hillary conspiracy and 'rigged system' talk. Don't get me wrong, I like Bernie and his ideals, but many of his supporters on reddit fed into the same baseless fear and paranoia Trump supporters are now exploiting.

    3. The insidious alt-right/white nationalist folks were always there, but just got more and more emboldened to spew their vitriol and propaganda as the sub became more and more of an echo chamber.

    I am not convinced Trump himself isn't satire. Then again I think Kanye West is all an act too.
