So this season there have coming a lot of reactions on the Premier League coverage here in Norway. The rights are held by an independent TV channel here in Norway, and they are pretty much regulating the prices as they feel is right. They are not part of any scandinavian cooperation like MGT that owns Viasat, that holds the rights in Sweden I believe.
Therefore there have been a lot of reactions from fans saying that the price for the TV package are getting too high, and are blaming the distributor. Fans are starting to sign petitions, organize boycotts etc. But everything to blame here is the deal the english FA made with the UK distributors.
Fans are complaining about higher prices for less matches, since the Premier League now only send one live match no matter what day it is. (so for example if there are 2 matches simultaneously on a sunday, only one match gets viewed live.) Also the fact that they spread out the matches on every day of the weekend, friday, saturday, sunday and monday matches.
I can understand the reactions and see why they are frustrated, but I feel they are being stupid to blame national distributors in their contries for the price changes and scheduling. If they want to blame anyone they should blame the FA, and sign petitions against them.
I looked up the prices for the Norwegian viewer, and we have to pay £42 every month to watch the Premier League this season.
How much does it cost in your country? And how do you find the price and availability changes this season?
