Modern men and DIY (self.MGTOW)

I've noticed that a lot of men my age (mid to late twenties) have lost all ability to do basic DIY. My dad and all the guys of his generation could fix just about anything. Need a plug changed? No problem? Need a carpet laid? Easy. Broken plumbing? Fixed it while you were talking about it.

Nowadays I have friends asking me to come round and change fuses for them, or what to do when the power goes out? They throw out things that are simple, 2 minute repair jobs, because they have no concept of doing it for themselves. WTF happened?

Two things happen. 1) the proliferation of make-work low to negative value added jobs and 2) the separation of millions of fathers from their children's lives.

What do you want to do? There is a you tube video for it. Dont think of it as a skill. Work the problem.

Where did you learn how to do theses things? I wouldn't know how to do any of that stuff either. I just never had a reason or opportunity to learn how.

Shop classes were replaced with college prep classes.
