I've noticed that a lot of men my age (mid to late twenties) have lost all ability to do basic DIY. My dad and all the guys of his generation could fix just about anything. Need a plug changed? No problem? Need a carpet laid? Easy. Broken plumbing? Fixed it while you were talking about it.

Nowadays I have friends asking me to come round and change fuses for them, or what to do when the power goes out? They throw out things that are simple, 2 minute repair jobs, because they have no concept of doing it for themselves. WTF happened?
