Thoughts on Eric Dier? (self.reddevils)

Watching Spurs vs Everton match and was amazed at how well Dier is in defense. What are all your thoughts on him? I know he came up a United supporter and he can play DM, CB, and RB (could use some reinforcements in CB and RB). I think he would be a great addition and could come into the first team and be a great utility player like Blind.

As a young English international from a rival club, he'd be a ridiculously expensive utility player.

If Spurs don't make CL next season, certainly someone I feel we should look at. Primarily because he is also English and English players are less likely to seek foreign shores.

We always had a strong home nations player representation and while we do have a good range of those in the current set up with Smalling, Shaw, Rashford etc I'd like to see that expanded some and Dier would be a good shout. Technically very good on the ball for a player that plays deep. I imagine City and Pep would be looking at him too, should Spurs not make CL.

For those suggesting he would be too expensive, I agree but I wish we had taken Levy on and gone for Modric and Bale before they moved on. In the end we just didn't want the ball ache of dealing with him but we missed out on two excellent players as a result.

Spurs don't make the CL, I'd even look at Kane, not sure how and where we'd fit him at this moment and will have a better idea in a years time but again, an English player who could be with us for 10 years.
