I was wondering if a fatherly figure can prevent a young little girl from becoming full of baggage, mentally unstable, whorish etc. And by fatherly figure I mean one within the scope of her familly, i.e. an older brother, an older cousin etc. Not a stepfather or something else. Say she is 5 years old, and the father of the familly dies. Her brother is 15 years old. While she grows up, can her brother who allegedly became the head of the familly prevent her from suffering BPD etc? And this can be asked for other siblings too, like younger brothers. What do you, gentlemen, think? This struck me after watching American History X and seeing Derek take the role of the father, albeit not a great role model. I am not refering to him as an example, but merely what made me think about this. What do you think?
