Weight Loss

Currently sitting at 91.5 kg, want to get that down to 80kg by end of May, lose the belly and get some more fitness. Am coaching some football teams and would like to join in more/set a better example

Neat. Is your main exercise going to come from your coaching or something else?

Joining Gym next month, and Pokemon Go

Pokemon Go is a great idea if you're relatively new to exercise. Do you know if it works to travel by bike? If the pace is right, I imagine this would be better for you than walking.

Calories are what count when trying to lose or gain weight.

Been doing CICO since mid April and lost 51lbs (just over 23kg) so far. My Fitness Pal is a God send for when you're first starting out, but you learn to judge foods yourself when you get a feel for it and that knowledge will help to maintain when you reach your goal. Good luck!

I'll jump in so! I have a few questions that might help me better understand your situation :)

A) How tall are you?

B) Activity/exercise - How active a lifestyle do you have? Are you constantly moving or do you sit at a desk all day? Do you drive to work or cycle? Then in terms of actual exercise, how much would you do in a week, football, gym, jogging whatever the case may be.

C) What's your diet like? Do you find you eat pretty well or do you think you take on a lot of sugar?

Good idea if it takes off, trumps to you!

I came back from America 3 months ago, whilst out there I put on weight and went up to around 113kg. When I got back I carried on with my usual diet of BBQ chicken sandwiches at work, chilli or a steak every night and egg sandwiches for breakfast. When my coworkers pointed out how big had got I decided to make a complete revamp to my diet.

After weighing myself this morning I am now down to 103kg. Obviously I want this downward trend to continue but as I play rugby its important I'm not exactly small but a little more would be good for me. If you would like some diet tips etc to help just let me know and what I changed to.

My advice would be don't expect too much too quick. Depending on how hard you train/diet you'll probably lose a few kg in the 1st week but then the body will adapt and you'll see the weight come off slower and slower. Don't get disheartened, it's just your body getting used to your new regime.

Slowly is the key - so don't start by dropping your calorie intake by 500 and doing 1 hour of cardio a day, otherwise your body will adapt to that and you have nowhere else to take it.

Month on month, keep building things up. i.e. get an idea of your BMR, work out what calories you need to maintain your weight and subtract between 10-20% depending on how fast you're looking to lose the weight and then slowly build up your cardio time too. Month 1 - 20 mins, month 2 - 25 minutes, etc.

Speaking from experience, a little knowledge and patience goes a hell of a long way, and also stops rebound fat gain. And on that note - good luck!

I want to start working out more and going to the gym. I have weights and what not at home but I'm lazy, I make excuses for myself after I get home from work for why I can't or don't do it. I weigh 60 kg and my goal weight is 75 kg which I'd love to reach by mid next year.

[–]Pedantic_PatFan Favourite David De Gea[S] 3ポイント4ポイント  (1子コメント)

I'll be using the Gym to try to get my weight going in the opposite direction lol good luck

Same to you, we got this

Was in a similar place a few years ago. Remember to eat right. Whenever you lift, be sure to pack yourself full of proteins and calories afterwards. Real food, too, not just shakes, etc!

Check out the others who are doing similar, seems like DuoLingo is the way to go, best of luck!

[–]bagombos_enough_boxFat Ronaldo 3ポイント4ポイント  (5子コメント)

Awesome. I'll kick this off with saying I really want to learn Italian.

I've just started on Duolingo...

Going for 10% fluency by Xmas.

[–]JayDevilK1993 3ポイント4ポイント  (2子コメント)

Currently learning French on Duolingo! It's really good. On 16% fluency atm so got a bit of a head start as I started beginning of the year so i've been slacking in recent months!

[–]bagombos_enough_boxFat Ronaldo 1ポイント2ポイント  (1子コメント)

Good to know it's possible to reach that level of fluency in such a short time. Maybe I'll reach my goal sooner than expected!

[–]JayDevilK1993 0ポイント1ポイント  (0子コメント)

go for it bro you can get 10% by then for sure. Let us know how you get on! Will keep an eye out next time they post a squad goals (Y)

I'm in! Spanish Duolingo here.

Same here : Weight Loss. I'd like to be closer to 70 than how I am edging to 90, like I am at the moment. It's more laziness than anything and I'm looking to get over that, by going running along with using a proven diet/cardio/weights regimen and sticking to it to reach my goal. Hopefully I'll be able to follow through since I've put it out here. Fingers crossed and hopefully the team will inspire me as much as I pin my weekend moods on them. 👍.

This is a really great ambition. Some unsolicited suggestions:

  1. Get a subscription to the nicest gym you can afford. One with a decent cafe, members area, pool, saunas, etc. Somewhere you like being.

  2. Set a regimen where you go to the gym every other day (so: either 3 days a week or 4 days a week you're at the gym, depending on whether Mon is on/off day). Stick to that schedule. The hardest part about working out is going to the gym. Go to the gym. Don't worry about what you're doing when you're there, just make sure you go and be at the gym. If you're sitting and doing work in the members area, that's fine. Just go to the fucking gym.

  3. The diet piece is not tough. Cut out carbonated and sugarry drinks. Hydrate well (no fixed amount - just make sure you're drinking water regularly throughout the day). Cut down on complex carbs and eat simpler meals. Double your veg portion, keep protein at same level. Use herbs / spices instead of condiments. Only have one dessert or sweet treat per week. Switch out sweets for blueberries. Remember how much you love eggs but you can never be arsed to cook them? Start cooking a lot of eggs.

  4. Don't fuck around with weird regimes in the gym. Lifting weights (and building muscle as a consequence) is what helps you to shift fat. Take a couple of gym sessions for that and whatever is leftover is for cardio. Solve your routine and which areas you need to focus on once you've hauled yourself to the gym every day you're supposed to for like a month in a row. Until then, just go to the gym and exercise.

  5. If you can afford it, get a PT one session a week or a couple sessions a month. It'll run you between £50 - £150 depending on how good the PT is. PT is useful because a) you definitely won't skip their session, b) they'll probably tell you what else you should be doing on the other days when you're not paying them, and c) they will work you harder than you work yourself.

  6. DO NOT FEEL WEIRD ABOUT NOT KNOWING HOW TO USE EQUIPMENT. Just fucking ask someone.

Good luck man.

So I have quite a big interest in rap music. I grew up with people who used to freestyle to just old school grime instrumentals but I'd never join in. Always felt like I had the ability and lyrics in me but I've never tried to actually make a verse to an instrumental before.

So I challenge myself to make a short song to an instrumental then post it on soundcloud for everyone to hear. If anyone's got any preferred beats or things to reference in the lyrics let me know.

You could mention DiMarzio, I suppose the man has earned it.

I want to become a lot more active and be more time efficient (Final years of high school)

[–]seihandaShaw 0ポイント1ポイント  (0子コメント)

Don't burden yourself. Last year of highschool will be busy with final exam and Uni entrance exam.

Remember my word : Just have fun, If you're not having fun then what's the point ??

[–]HaroldGuyJi-Sung Neville 2ポイント3ポイント  (0子コメント)

Been coasting Uni for the last few years averaging like 55%.

This year the aim is to get 80%+, or be in the Top Decile, prove to myself I can do it.

I like this idea, could offer some sort of motivation for me as well as a few others I'm sure. This year I'm looking to get back into playing competitive football for my college.

Had the opportunity to do so last year but backed out a number of times, stupid really. I'd love to be able to make it into the Thirds - Seconds would be a bonus - although the Academy Team is seriously good, I don't expect to be getting into that!

Need to pass my driving test and work Saturdays for training in order to go from an 18k a year job to a 25k a year job. Worst bit is I put 2.5k on top of my earnings last year just from overtime, could have been even more with the other job
