Introducing Squad Goals, an /r/reddevils challenge!
What's this?
I've noticed that a lot of us like to share our achievements in the Free Talk Friday threads, and people here are very kind and encouraging to each other. But what about challenges you aren't doing well with/can't seem to start? Why not marry this challenge that you may have been inconsistent with, with the one thing you are doing all the time (I know I am), refreshing /r/reddevils?
The general idea is that people post their goals for the 'season', and others join in/help out etc. and we see how well people have done by the end of the season (May). Starting from the beginning of August, 10 months is a nice amount of time to lose weight/get back into a sport/learn a language/ get a new career/ marry Rachel Riley etc.
In this thread, comment something you want to learn/achieve/improve on. Somebody who has the same kind of goal, or already doing something similar, or with experience in this area replies. You guys buddy up in your progress, encouraging each other, or if someone has done the thing you are attempting, they help out in whatever way they can.
Example
/u/randomusername comments "Looking to lose 15kg for my wedding next March"
People who also want to lose weight would reply, sharing their goals/timelines etc. Someone who has maybe done something similar might share their experience and give advice.
Example 2:
/u/randomusername2 comments "Want to get back playing football"
People could give tips or might need someone to fill a spot in a five-a-side game.
There's no need to give away any personal details whatsoever, RES tagging or PMing would be plenty. You could give updates in the Free Talk Friday threads. There won't be any clogging up of /new with this one.
Even if you don't want to engage in interacting with other people as the season progresses, it might be nice to post your goal and at the end of the season see how you did.
This could be laughed off as a joke, or some awesome people could come together and help each other out. Let's give it a go!
