Why has it taken so long?
For years I have been looking at other clubs and how good their digital/social teams are. Other clubs have had excellent behind the scene footage or fun videos or posts with a lot of focus on social media and the digital market in general. We however, have had nothing but crap and cringe. From our website to our social media accounts we are crap.
This is extremely surprising to me. The digital market is massive right now and has been for a number of years. Majority of companies around the world is jumping on social media to increase awareness which will in turn result in sales of merchandise etc. How we have not jumped on this so soon really gets by me as we are totally focused on the commercial side of the business which allows us to break world record fees for the best players.
Now, since Adidas have signed and especially already this season I think we can see light!! The build up to the Pogba signing, the Stormzy/Pogba announcement video (fucking brilliant way to announce a player BTW. Stormzy is huge on YouTube and in the current grime scene) and now follow up videos. Not only this, when signing Jose Mourinho we trademarked his name and he open a new instagram account (this must have been down to the commercial team), signing players with a massive following in Zlatan and in general better content and getting players to join social media and interact with the fans.
All of this is great signs. It looks as if it has taken Adidas to take anitiative on this and make it happen. I hope it really continues because I love watching and seeing content like this.
Also new website will contribute a lot.
