Is this our best ever transfer window? (self.reddevils)

Regardless of how they performed, we've recently had windows where Falcao and Di Maria came in. I feel this is even better. Are there any windows historically that top this?

Immense upgrades in 4 areas needed most. One of the best players in the Bundesliga, an incredible veteran striker on a free, and broke the world record fee for an immense CM.

Plus a better manager.

I can't think of many better on paper.

We tend to forget about him since he's not a big name like the other 3, yet, but he's definitely an amazing addition to our squad.

The other that comes to mind is the Hargreaves/Anderson/Nani/Tevez window which was pretty great. The first two had so much potential that ended up wasted.

We've signed 3 world class players and a great prospect this time, can't think of a better one either. Ridiculously good, so optimistic. I think they're all pretty good fits for the league as well, barring a slight question mark over Mkhi maybe.

The window before our 2008 CL run was definitely amazing and we all thought we struck gold with Anderson and Nani.

That's the most important part of what you said. Right now? The window looks amazing. But it's way too soon to evaluate the window. Looks mean nothing if it doesn't translate to results.

As a result, until sufficient time goes by to determine whether this window worked out --- /u/haydnwilld is correct - the 2005-2006 windows were probably the best:

we got Park, Van Der Sar, Vidic and Evra for around £20m total and made £12m off Mikel without ever having him in the first place.

Best on a budget I'd say is 05/06, we got Park, Van Der Sar, Vidic and Evra for around £20m total and made £12m off Mikel without ever having him in the first place.

My favourite though would be 07/08 (apart from losing Pique and Rossi) we gained two bright potentials in Anderson and Nani, two amazing talents in Fabio and Rafael, two first team game changers in Tevez and Hargreaves and Possebon who looked a real talent. Admittedly long term none of these really worked out apart from Rafael but at the time it felt like we'd hit the mark on every transfer.

Vidic and Evra were in the winter transfer window. The whole year was impressive but not just the summer or winter window alone

No, seriously. Look it up - 1904 was class. Cash injection after being skint and an 18 match unbeaten streak.

1908 was massive as well, £60,00 got us a shiny new Old Trafford.

We got Diego Forlan, Laurent Blanc, Juan Sebastian Veron and Ruud Van Nistelrooy in 01/02. That was pretty fun.

Was incredible at the time to buy both those two in one go.

Especially as we'd not really spent massive fees on foreign stars often before (only really Stam that I can think of and he was a defender so nowhere near as exciting or fun).

Let's not get ahead of ourselves. I hear that kind of things every year.

Last year: Schneiderlin&Schweinsteger were meant to finally fix our midfield once and for all, Depay was meant to be next Hazard and Darmian - fantastic right-back to secure position for few years and promising stiker - Martial. Only one didn't disappoint.

Two years ago? Falcao and Di Maria, our biggest signings ever, oh how hyped we were! Shaw - left-back for years, Herrera who was meant to finally be proper Scholes replacement, and solid defender - Rojo. How did it end up? Herrera was pretty good in his first season, but nothing jaw-dropping. Shaw also had rather unimpressive first season and only began to really show his worth season later and got injured pretty quickly.
