I don't really care about the 12-hour rule change. Think we'll see good posts with either.

I'm mixed on the update requests. Updates used to be my favorite part of /r/legaladvice, and I'm still not happy about locking them. I've seen the sorts of posts you mentioned, however, so I guess I can see where that could be a problem. I have a hard time being too angry about a change that seems designed to help people asking questions on an advice forum.

You guys are doing a good job. Thanks!

First, thank you.

I get the issue with update requests. There was a bit of controversy among the mods about this. Frankly, after the recent blowup about updates on /r/legaladvice, I didn't want to kick the hornet's nest.

Someone showed me a post from the other day where OP was in the sub, and there were several comments that said nothing other than "please update us." That kind of thing is a bit troublesome for the reasons I outlined above, and it doesn't really contribute to the discussion in the subreddit. It seems safe to remove it, and best for the OPs over in /r/legaladvice. Kind of hard to say no just because there might be controversy.

Missed those but I have seen a lot of "IANAL but that can't be legal" lately. I can see how all that can be distracting/unhelpful.
