Manchester United forward Januzaj set for Sunderland loan

Adnan Januzaj was the bright spark of 2013 but his Man Utd career has gone sour and now David Moyes is ready to swoop.

Adnan Januzaj is poised to return to the scene of his greatest United moment with a loan move to Sunderland.

Ex-Reds boss David Moyes handed the teenage Belgian his Old Trafford breakthrough in 2013 when he gave him his full United debut at Sunderland.

Now new Black Cats boss Moyes wants his prodigy and United academy product at the Stadium of Light to fire up his career again.

Januzaj's impact on Wearside almost three years ago was sensational with a two-goal start against Sunderland that gave United a 2-1 away success.

The then 18-year-old was nurtured under Moyes and made 20 starts in his first season.

But the sacking of Sir Alex Ferguson's successor in favour of Louis van Gaal wasn't a good move for Januzaj. He only made eight starts and 13 sub appearances and amid tales that his early impact had created an attitude problem the midfielder asked to go on loan at the start of last season to Borussia Dortmund.

The Bundesliga switch was a failure, again with attitude cited as a problem, and Januzaj then asked to come back to United in January. But he made only three further sub appearances and missed out on Euro 2016 with Belgium.

It is understood Januzaj wanted a permanent transfer this summer but United have been keen to keep him on their books and loan him out instead.

It appears Mourinho and the club have won that war and Moyes is set to temporarily land the 21-year-old until the end of the season in a bid to resurrect his flagging career.
