But that just seems like such a pathetic attempt, no? This is what puzzles me the most, according to avsa, these people are super geniuses. If they were to take the funds, why would they attempt to obfuscate it in such a poor way that anybody with a block explorer can track?

Well, that's a disappointing tweet. The whole reason I bought into ETC was because I didn't think the DAO was "hacked" in the first place. Dude followed the rules, rules which the DAO folks were adamant about being the ONLY rules. The tweet seems to suggest it's good news that Poloniex may put a barrier in the guy's way.
