Deputies: Ryan Bundy confrontational during jail transport, forc - KPTV - FOX 12

Force was used against Ryan Bundy after he became confrontational during a transport from the Multnomah County Jail to the federal courthouse, according to deputies.

Bundy, 43, was requested to appear in court for a U.S. Marshals Service matter Tuesday morning, according to a Multnomah County Sheriff's Office spokesman.

A jail sergeant and deputy began the process of placing Bundy in handcuffs, but they said he refused to put his hands behind his back.

Bundy then spun around on the sergeant and deputy, according to the sheriff's office spokesman, and became confrontational.

The sergeant and deputy took Bundy to the ground and forced his hands behind his back to get the cuffs on him.

No law enforcement tools, such as a Taser or pepper spray, were used in the incident.

Medical staff evaluated Bundy and he was cleared to continue being transported to the courthouse. He was then taken into Marshals Service custody.

Bundy was one of more than two dozen people arrested following the January occupation of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge in Burns. His brother, Ammon Bundy, was the leader of the group and also remains in jail.
