It's hard to fathom us keeping up with free-spending giants like Bournemouth.

hey at least you're not Hull.

[–]Arsenalfour_four_three 5ポイント6ポイント  (0子コメント)

That's good news for us all.

[–]Manchester Uniteddemonictoaster 2

When Sunderland are out spending you, you know there is a problem.

[–]Las PalmasRabidNerd 3

Sunderland has spent before Fletcher, Johnson etc

classic eco round

[–]Tottenham Hotspurchubbyshrimp 1

Yeah there's no point to buy this round, otherwise they will have to save for the next 3 if they lose.

Mate, chances are that even we've spent more than you.

Feels cruel to just completely ignore hull on that list. Could have at least given them an honerary mention, after all, they are still technically in the premier league, at least until february

West Ham doin the lord's work with 27m

[–]West Ham UnitedItsTheHomeWrecker 8

To be fair, you can bet your house Nordviet and Feghouli would have had signing on fee's.

[–]West Ham UnitedAnalAttackProbe 1

27m net matches what we've spent the last few seasons... now consider we've got a shiny new stadium and a new TV deal. Been doing some excellent business so far and appear to still have money to spend.

[–]Tottenham HotspurBurgleYourTurds 6

I have to assume City and United have neared the end of their business dealings (puchasing wise) and I'm not sure where Chelsea, West Ham, Liverpool, Leicester City or Southampton stand.

But I'd expect Spurs, Everton, and (jokes aside) Arsenal all to make at least one more purchase. I doubt Levy will spend big but I'd imagine that Everton or Arsenal might bring in a big money player. In addition to all of the smaller/less glamorous dealings that will take place throughout the league.

What I'm trying to say is yes, I'd expect the PL spending to eclipse 1bil.

[–]Manchester CityPottsaayy 0

City are done other than maybe signing a keeper. Nothing but departures now which will pocket us at least £60m, you'd assume.

[–]Manchester Citytitykaka 1

You don't think we'll get a fullback?

[–]Manchester CityPottsaayy 1

Nah, especially not with Zaba confirming he's staying. Sagna/Zaba/Maffeo and Clichy/Angelino with Sarmiento further down the line who looked incredible during his short time with the u18s, I think we're alright. I don't see anyone who we could get that particularly improves us, tbh. Best to reevaluate next summer when Clichy, Sagna and Zaba all have more miles on the clock and an extra year in their legs.

Other than Mangala and Bony who else are City trying to move on? Also do you not think you do with signing some fullbacks?

[–]Manchester CityPottsaayy 1

Nasri and Kolarov. Maybe Navas, and potentially even one of Hart/Willy if we do go after a goalkeeper.

Eh, I said to the other lad that I don't think so. We have some talented kids coming through on both sides. Zabaleta has confirmed Pep asked him to stay, and we're not letting Sagna go after his last season. Also, the market is pretty dry in terms of full backs. Not sure who we could go and get who would massively improve us. Rodriguez and Peres were linked but I'm not sold on either, tbh. There can also be such a thing as too much overhaul in one go, I think it's best to reevaluate next summer once the kids have got some games at our level, and we see how Clichy, Sagna and Zaba are all fairing with an extra year in their legs. The market could also look completely different and there could be a more obvious option for us.

I'd be surprised if you managed to move Nasri on given his wages and attitude problems. Any idea how long he has left on his contract? I had read that City were interested in MAtS and he would be a great signing.

That's fair you have to give youth a chance at some stage and ye have already had a serious enough outlay so probably better only moving for a player that would considerably improve the team as opposed to stop gap measures.

[–]Manchester CityPottsaayy 1

We only want £17m and apparently there's interest from both Milan clubs and Roma. His wages aren't extortionate and he's some player on his day, I think we'll get him out fairly easily. His contract expires in 2019.

It's definitely the intention, we've poured plenty into our youth setup. The first set of lads who have been the benefactors of the revamp will be u18s next year, despite most of them being 16. They've not lost a game for more than 3 years as an age group, winning with ridiculous scorelines like 9-0 more frequently than not. They beat Swansea u23s 7-1 a few days ago despite being up to 7 years their junior. The feeling is that this is the age group that will be the ones to first break into the first team, but ahead of that we have a few kids who will be capable of making the step up in the next year or two. I wouldn't be surprised to see at least 2 or 3 involved from time to time this season.

Yeah maybe tbh obviously don't follow Nasri closely but the only him I see him on /r/soccer is for his off field activities.

Yeah it will be interesting to see how the academy produces given the investment, but even if City were to only get one first team player ever 2/3 years you'd almost say its worth it given the state and direction of the transfer market.

Other than a LB I'd think we're done.

[–]Tottenham HotspurBurgleYourTurds 0

For curiosity's sake, who do you imagine you're in for?

I know Hector was thrown around but anyone else?

Not Hector according to Pearce and a few others. Few names mentioned as possibilities, but nothing concrete yet.

Might not happen either, might just keep using Milner as required.

[–]Aeceus 1

Liverpool just need a LB. Small chance a CB comes in too.

[–]ChelseaProphet_of_Jaciam 0ポイント1ポイント  (0子コメント)

Most Chelsea fans, myself very much included, are happy with the signings we've made, but the lack of a CB signing ( hopefully Koulibaly ) and a LB ( worryingly no rumours of any merit) is something that needs to be addressed. Our defence was the part of our team that needed the most work, yet we are set to start the same back line against West Ham as we did all last season.

Note: Leicester aren't 5th, Arsenal is. For once. Leicester are 6th.

Ah crap, missed that, yeah i'll fix that.

[–]Aston VillaMoreRedAnts 1

Probably because you thought 4. Arsenal

[–]Manchester Unitedidunlikeu 8

How about net spent?

Our spending looks like alot, but with our net spend its not that bad.

/u/Redrocket1701, how much have we spent (primeira liga)?

Primeira Liga has spent €55.33m, almost all of that comes from Benfica (€16.91m), Porto (€22.35m), Sporting CP (€12.61m) and Braga (€3.14m).

I'll add the main spend for the league to the top, and i'll also find the transfers for Ligue 1, as it feels odd not having them now.

Don't mean to undermine the effort you put into this or anything, but why have you quoted the prices in Euros? None of the teams use that currency

The site i got all the information from quoted in euros, i'm looking around for another one and will update them into pounds for the PL.

Also its worth noting that most of the international deals that take place in football are done in euros, not pounds.

The site i got all the information from quoted in euros

Can you add a link to the source in your post please?

Why does it matter what currency he uses? Ain't that hard to use Google to convert it to what ever currency you fancy

The clearest and most precise way to show the data is to use the currency that those teams actually use. Exchange rates fluctuate but the number of pounds each team has spent is constant.

It might be in Euros because a lot of the transfer deals are with teams in other European nations so the most accurate published data is in Euros.

Also, all this is out of date come the next signing.

It's obviously because transfermarkt use Euros, but transfermarkt is far from the most accurate published data.

Transfermarkt is just an aggregate for different sources anyway. And because this post lists figures from other European leagues, the best way to go about presenting the data is with a unified currency.

Unless you have stocks in those signings, it doesn't matter at all. Nobody is going to anything with this data.

30 million euro or pound or dollar... we all know its a shitload of money but it matters to know one how much it, to the penny, exactly is

The whole post is fucking gobbidy goop to me

[–]Manchester UnitedHamAaron 0

Burnley are gonna really struggle if they spend some money

We'll struggle either way I reckon. The club isn't attractive to Premier League level players, and the rest aren't worth paying for.

While i think you will struggle, i wish you guys all the luck in the world as your first three matches aren't exactly a walk in the park.

at least they spent some, Hull haven't spent a drop yet.

[–]West Ham UnitedAnalAttackProbe 0

This is net spending, correct?

No

[–]West Ham UnitedAnalAttackProbe 1

Then ours is waaaaay the fuck off.

This doesn't include profit from selling players, this is just how much the clubs have spent on new talent so far this transfer window.

[–]West Ham UnitedAnalAttackProbe 1

Then your numbers for West Ham are way off.

[–]Leicester CitySnowballMyself 1

Should be more like £40m?

[–]West Ham UnitedAnalAttackProbe 1

Yep. £40.5m is what I've got. There or abouts.

Man utd still spent less than man city wtf
