Comparing United's with City's team (self.reddevils)

Sorry to intrude your Pogba celebrations but since both our teams have pretty much completed our signings for the season I wanted to get an opinion from the other side on which team is better in each position. So we've got:

GK: De Gea vs Hart/maybe Ter stegen.

LB: Shaw vs Clichy.

LCB: Baily vs Stones/Ota.

RCB: Smalling vs Kompany.

RB: Valencia/Darmian vs Sagna/Zaba.

CDM: Fellaini/Carrick/Schneiderlin vs Fernandinho/Fernando/Delph.

CDM: Pogba vs Gundogan.

CAM: Rooney/Mata vs Kdb/Silva.

LW: Martial/Depay/Young vs Sterling/Nolito.

RW: Lindgard/Mhki vs Sane/Navas.

CF:Zlatan/Rashford vs Aguero/Iheanacho/Jesus.

The only positions where IMO we lose out in is CAM unless Pogba plays as our CAM, CF: Aguero better than what we have, and I believe Kompany is still a better defender than Smalling at the moment.

Just to put my opinion in, I'd but the whole defense leaning towards City (Obviously not including the Keeper) and the first CDM spot I'd definitely put as ours. I agree with you on the rest though.

Have you got any specific opinions on the ones I've mentioned.

Shaw is much better than Clichy.

Both young players I'd say Bailly and Stones are very similar, I'm not impressed by Otamendi and I'd but both of these above him. Shaw is a mile ahead of Clichy if he can get to what he was before injury and if Valencia plays as he has in preseason he matches up to Sagna/Zaba at the very least. Kompany is better than Smalling if fit but I'm not sure he will stay fit. Again the first CDM spot is also very similar except for Fellaini I'd say who is below the others.

You have to remember the age of the City squad, much of the matching players are a lot older whereas we have the youth.

Overall I'd say our squads are very similar but I do believe we have more players who could produce the 'spectacular'; Zlatan, Martial, Mkhitaryan, Pogba, De Gea and even Rooney on his day; whereas I only see that coming from Aguero, KDB and possibly Sane depending on how he adapts.

Clichy is absolutely nowhere near Shaw, and Kolarov is one of the worst players in your side. I'd rather have Bailly and Smalling than Otamendi and Mangala, but if you have Kompany you're set. Difficult call on the RBs as Zabaleta and Sagna are very old now, and Darmian has the potential to be much better, as does Valencia. That being said, I can’t look past Zabaleta’s quality, if he rediscovers his form.

Fernandinho is better than Schneiderlin/Carrick, but Pogba is better than whoever else plays next to Fernandinho (i.e Gundogan). De Bruyne is one of the two best players in the league, along with Aguero, so you have a better CAM and ST, but I prefer our wingers (Mkhi and Martial) to any of yours. It should be very interesting, because I think our squad is more balanced than yours, and better on average, but De Bruyne and Aguero can win you the league if they stay fit.

CAM we lose heavily. CF we lose for the half season that Aguero can actually play. Fernandinho and Fernando are also better than Fellaini and Carrick but Pogba is better than anyone. Other positions we are all better imo

There's no way that you can put Stones in there after last season... If we're putting potential in there, then you can change every position. And LCB doesn't near to be differentiated from RCB, just have two CBs: Smalling and Kompany.

This one is a lot close to mine, only difference I realy had was LB but I agree that one could easily go your way if Shaw comes back from his injury well. Also RB I'd give to us.

Everyone is going to say Aguero>Zlatan. That's not a sure thing at all. If he was showing signs of decline because of his age then sure, you can say Aguero is better, but he hasn't showed signs of slowing down. Until he does, you can't just say Aguero is better. I think City has more depth, but depth only matters if you have injuries. If both teams stay healthy then United put out the better XI.
