It's all a semantics game. The party as a whole is as against gay marriage as much as it's against abortion, which is in only enough to keep easily duped Christians in line. The Republican party has never taken action against deviancy, all they do is say the Democrats have gone too far, let's take a half step back. The second Bush administration had a Republican House and Senate, why is abortion still legal? He could have made an executive order declaring the personhood of the unborn and sent the US Marshals to enforce it, he didn't give a shit. Compassionate conservativism doesn't apply to the unborn. Republicans give lip service to repealing fag marriage but it doesn't mean anything, they'd still subsidize sodomite lifestyles with civil unions and anti discrimination laws.

The Republican party is garbage. they're worse than the Democrats, they have the same goals but are even more deceptive about them. On the day of the rope I'll be putting two faced Republicans first against the wall.
