mitten: Schweinsteiger "underwhelmed" other players in training (self.reddevils)

Interesting aside from the latest UWS podcast. Andy is well known for having decent ties to the players (e.g. Vidic being so disillusioned under Moyes that he was in training smashing other players and listening to his headphones 24/7 rather than talking to his mates) and I don't think he'd make stuff like this up.

He mentions that Schweinsteiger is done at United and is being made to train with the kids. Says that Schweinsteiger came with a big reputation but did not impress coaches or even his fellow players at United in training. Just couldn't cut it any more.

Worth keeping in mind if you're in the camp of people mourning his inevitable leaving.

Mitten also mentions that players will leave this month. Doesn't say who.

he can't just throw that out there and hope to be respected. Even I could write that in a paper. Schweinsteiger part is interesting if true but I mean, he's not really had an extended amount of time match fit and in games he played, he did well and showed his experience.

The transfer window closes on Aug 31. So if players leave, it will be during this month.

He's not making that quote to be respected, he's just saying because he may know it to be true and instead of building his reputation he's giving out solely just information

Andy Mitten does have a lot of ties to the club, he's probably been told to expect players leaving this summer and passed that on. It's a bit unfair to have a go at him for it.

But seriously, Andy Mitten is just a fucking bedroom ITK. He's a tosser that charges people money for him to make up bullshit. The guy knows fuck-all and i've been saying for about 12 months nobody should listen to him, he's a total fraud.

No I haven't, if I did would the "players will leave this month" quote be more clear? I mean, it's fairly obvious Schweiny, maybe even Januzaj and McNair will be leaving. That's why I think it's a bit silly to just throw that out there when it's pretty clear.

Well how can you expect to be respected when you make such a ridiculous comment without even listening to the context. He does indeed actually name several players who might not be as safe as it seems. I'm sure you will judge it all based on one noncontextual headline though...

It's all speculation but this is the impression I've gathered from all the various reports about Basti:

  • He's seen as out of shape, unfit and injury prone.

  • He spent too much time in Germany last season and got favorable treatment.

  • He's not as technically gifted as he's hyped to be and seemed to phone it in, saving his body/fitness for the Euros.

  • All of which has made him very unpopular in the dressing room.

Keep in mind, in the Woodward era our team goes into full spin mode feeding stories to our core press pack whenever we want to win the PR battle so take all these reports with a massive grain of salt.
