I feel Jose tried to play as many players from the cup winning squad as possible and tried to give them as many minutes as possible. That's probably why Rooney was not taken out till the very end, that's why he subbed Mata in, to sub him out was a tactical decision. So Miki is most def in his plans don't worry he just wanted Lingard to play just like the others from last years squad.To support my theory his post match interview and stuff where he thanks the players who played last year but did not make the cut on Sunday.(there were multiple posts yesterday after the game and today with people freaking out about him getting only a couple of minutes)

okay the way i see it, the general view is not one of panic. people understand that mikhi has to be given time to adjust to the league, also lingaard did very well in preseason. Your intentions were good. dont feel bad about the flak you get for this post, its only imaginary internet points anyway

This is ridiculous. He's a new signing known for taking time to bed into the team.

He could spend 6 months working his way into form and fitness for all I care, his talent is phenomenal. He's going to light up the league.

Rooney was so bad I genuinely find it astonishing he's still starting.

I hope once Pogba starts, we see less of Rooney and more of Miki/Martial/Ibra/Rashford.

Cannot fathom a player that can't trap a football from 3 yards and can't pass a simple ball to a teammate.

I think its clear that Mourinho is picking his squads based on form, he has to, we have a big squad and so to make everyone think they have a chance if they play well enough he has to pick players in form. Fellaini, Lingard, Valencia etc. played better in pre-season than their counterparts, therefore it only makes sense to start them, Rooney is the exception rather than the rule since Jose is going to be trying to mould him into a 10, IMO that's what it is
