I think history will judge van gaal favourably for what he did at United. Clearing out the deadwood and introducing some great young talent that mourinho can't ignore. Great transitional manager.

He's done that at most of his clubs, unfortunate that he sets up teams but as of late hasn't been able to succeed with them e.g. Bayern

He got further with Bayern in 1 season than Pep did in 3 with a squad half as talented.

We're the only club he didn't win the league with but he still went out with a trophy.

If any of Martial, TFM, Lingard and Rashford went on to become a world class player, he will be judged favourably historically. Otherwise, it's more of a 50/50 period - the positives are balanced by the negatives during his reign.

Signing Martial, giving Rashford his debut, the FA cup, his dive against Arsenal and sex-masochism. He had to go but I will remember him fondly and will always be grateful for our first trophy since SAF and bringing some form of stability to the club after the Moyes debacle. Happy birthday Louis.

Honestly I love him for winning us the FA Cup. I am 20 and have been supporting United for 8 years and FA Cup seemed so close and yet so far. Thank you LVG for the cup and for giving youth a great introduction. Will always be remembered.
