This might be a shock to everyone but the one I see who improved a lot during all of pre-season is Herrera. If we only count the five pre-season games I think Herrera is our best player.

The circlejerk never ends.

He's definitely playing better, would love to see him and Pogs with carrick or Morgs but Mou isn't known to play 4-3-3 so Wazza gets the nod I guess

Most improved player? Sure.

Best player? Nowhere near.

He's most improved mainly because of how awful he was against Dortmund. I still think he's easily behind Pogba, Carrick and Fellaini for the CM spot.

As far as the entire team goes there are atleast 13 or 14 players who've played better than him.

Wow, that is absurd. Strictly going off preseason, Herrera was one of our best players, only behind Valencia. The way he never stops running, can put a good tackle in and opens stuff up going forward (look at the build up to Ibras goal) will benefit massively in a Mourinho system.

People talk about the Herrera love circle jerk, but I see more opinions like yours on here, that are sometimes ridiculous. There's no way he should be behind Fellaini, and obviously doesn't play the same role as Carrick (so pointless comparison). In my opinion, our best midfield 3 will be Pogba-Herrera-Carrick.

Kinda weird how Miki played just 2 minutes yesterday, and didnt start at OT or Gala either. I think Jesse has a place in the team but Miki has proved he can produce consistently. Should have started all of the games IMO.

If yesterday is anything to go by, Miki could have a shout for #10

I don't really care if he rides the bench. The whole point of having quality depth is that you need to play out of your skin every match just to keep your place.

If having Micky around makes Lingard play to a level where he's dribbling 50 yards through 7 players to slot a goal against the best defensive team in the league then that's fantastic value.

If we're dropping anyone, I'd much rather phase Rooney out and bring Micky into the number 10 spot than ruin Lingard's development.

Wait what? Leicester are the best defensive team in the league now?

[–]paulisback-inpogform 0ポイント1ポイント  (0子コメント)

Which team presses better than them? Spurs perhaps?

(copy paste my reply from the Mkhitaryan thread)

I think right now Lingard is more fitter. That's it. Mkhi will get his way into the team no doubt. Lets just be happy we have competition for a spot in the first team now. Everyone has to train hard. Except for Luke Shaw, I mean who can replace Luke? No one. XD

How tho? Mkhitaryan has trained since day 1 cause of no summer tournament. He should be fit.

[–]PabloPervguy 0ポイント1ポイント  (0子コメント)

I've seen Mou's interview where he says Mkhi lacks sharpness (or something like that)

He was known at Dortmund to be a bit of a bottler, it took him 2 years to get over his price tag.

I think Jose is easing him in, let Ibra and the others bear the expectation and then he can start to sneak Micky into the team with fans not expecting a hat-trick and 3 assists because of his rep from the Bundesliga last yeatr

Its been an odd pre-season. Short number of games played (especially with the City game cancelled) means we only actually played 3 pre-season matches and had to convert Rooney's testimonial into one, which is a slight shame because I always enjoy watching a load of old stars coming back to the club to play with the player on his testimonial. It is what it is though and there was a lot of work to do.

I'm pretty happy with how the defensive solidity has come along. Obviously nowhere near where it has to be yet to be a good defence but you could see them improving every game.

Bailly looks great so far - I'm prepared for his occasional brainfart leading to a goal or his occasional overthetop tackle leading to a red card. But his athleticism and technical ability seems fantastic, especially his passing. He was playing it out from the back easily yesterday.

Attacking wise though , there is a lot of work to do. I'd like to have seen Mkhi get a lot more minutes in the #10 role. He's two footed and has a great eye for goal and a killer pass and I think, with his speed, him pushing on past Ibra is a much more realistic scenario than Rooney doing so. Rooney has been poor but hopefully he will find form soon or be dropped.

We are still very slow at transitioning from defence to attack and this is going to be the hardest thing for Mourinho to change. The players he's brought in will help (especially Pogba) but the player's first reaction is still to look for that easy pass for possession rather than to see if they can go forwards.

Overall an OK pre-season which makes me think we will have a slow start but once things click we will be fine.

Best player: tough to call, but I'll go with Shaw - it's so fucking impressive that he looks unphased by that injury.

See more of: Mkhitaryan - puzzled he didn't get at least 30 mins yesterday.

Disappointed: Rooney. Jesus Christ, Rooney.

Favourite goal: Lingard yesterday.

That pre-season came and went quicker than Christmas day. Have you ever felt so under-prepared for a season? On the one hand I'm glad we weren't stuck abroad for an entire month, but missing a game against City is a big deal.

Im most impressed by our defense without smalling! Super duper excited for the season with these fast amazing defenders

Who has been your best player:

Valencia. Bailly & Lingard have also played well.

Who would you like to have seen more of:

Ladnan, Darmian (as backup LB) & Micky. Tofu & Mike as well if we're including injuries.

Who disappointed you:

Martial, he's been in awful form. Hopefully it's temporary.

Favourite goal:

Lingard. Easily.

Who has been your best player?

Eric Bailly. The guy seems nervous at the start of matches but he just becomes a monster after the first 10 minutes.

Who would you like to have seen more of?

Mkhitaryan. He seems like the real deal and if Rooney isn't performing, we can slot Lingard at CAM and Mkhi at right wing.

Who disappointed you?

Rooney.

Favourite goal?

Ibra vs Galatasaray. Quite a way to announce yourself.
